why does methotrexate take 3-6 mos to have affect if any on pain

just started injections at 15 mgs today 2nd week will do 17.5 mgs, know it s too early to expect any affect, but why would it take so long as my rheumy had advised

Well , now rheumy says osteo, maybe inflammstory, maybe psoratic arthritis, fibro, list goes on, oh and to help taper pred, at 4 mgs currently, been on pred for overb8 years, but since end of this year have had everything from groin pain, to all over muscle pain, joints wrist ankles, and hand and fingers painful, some finger joints swell and want to lock up, oh and scheduled for hip replacement in Feb 2025
