Daily back pain

I have had daily middle / upper back pain for 2 and a half years. I have pernicious anaemia too. G.p. thinks my pain is muscular. I've seen several physiotherapists. The current one thinks my pain is muscular caused by poor posture. I think she's probably right. I think it's been exacerbated by my job though that's only a few hours a week. The more active I am the more it hurts. This includes merely walking. It is often very hard to bear. I have other pain too, hip, hand, elbow and random less consistent areas. I try to do my exercises but tiredness makes it hard as well as the persistent pain. Initially the back pain would come on later in the day with the more I did. Now it's all the time but worse the more I do. I had an mri but they did lower back by mistake. I'm having another on my upper back soon. I only take painkillers rarely. I don't think they help much and with my digestive issues linked to my pernicious anaemia I don't think they are a good idea. I did a pain management course but it was focused purely on accepting the pain and meditating. Has anyone recovered from this kind of pain through physio? I would add I've had blood tests and am attending to previous low iron and vitamin D , levels of which are now good.

Hiya suesue,I think you're doing well with your back, the good thing is you move around quite a lot, that will deffo help.I injured my back about 19 years ago,the specialist suggested that it was musculoskeletal and nothing can be done.Recently,I had a fresh scan where it showed that I've damaged my lower/back in about 4 places with some damage to my neck area also. This has made my legs really weak, resulting in so many falls but they still don't wanna operate till it gets worse. In my case, walking helps loads but I also hate taking pain meds.Try stretching a few mins daily to strengthen your legs, thus easing the pressure on your back.Gd luck suesue, hope you get better soon.

Hi , I suffer with OA of the upper spine and a disc in my lower spine is almost gone. Have also found out that I have bone spurs growing out of my spine inwards. It’s good that you are active , have you tried pain patches. I am on Bunov 30mcg per week they take the edge off the pain it will never go. How about an osteopath? I know they work, when I was working I hurt my lower back and couldn’t move but osteopathy got me walking again with no pain after 3hrs could be something to look into! Hope you get the help you need. Kevin
