does anyone else have tingling in foot of sciatica leg? I have had this for awhile and have pinched sciatic nerve pain on that same side. It never really goes away, sometimes only in big toe.

tingly foot
Sounds like an extended nerve issue.
Have you tried sciatica relieving stretches?
They should help.
Otherwise, chiropractic might be something to look at?
thank you for replying. I think it is nerve related. When the sciatica feels better, I do more physiotherapy. I also have plantar fasciitis, which totally different.
Have y you heard of referred pain? It is where the pain is felt in a different place to where the cause of the pain is. I find when my sciatica is about to play up I get an ache in my ankle first, then my calf, then it goes up to my knee and joins in with the pain coming down from my hip and back. However, if it is only in your big toe, it could also be a nerve in your foot being aggravated.
Can you get an appointment with a podiatrist? They are the experts of everything below the knee and they should be able to sort out what is happening.
Thanks cyber, for replying. I like what you said about symptoms before sciatica flare up. I had those symptoms yesterday and this morning was a flare up. Pain is really bad now. I had an hour drive to dentist for a filling replacement. Between the car ride, the dentist chair and now mouth soreness, I needed a tramadol and fioricet and right into bed. My foot only tingles when sciatica is getting better. I hope your day is pain free!
Depends which nerve is affected, i.e L1 or 2 etc. The L5/S1 caused me total numbness on the outside foot and small toes and bottom part of the leg. After my ops it now tingles on and off. The big toe would suggest another one playing you up?
Thanks for sharing Emma. My arthritis doctor told me the sensation in my big is nerve damage. I never had mri so I don’t know which discs are causing the sciatica. My problem is osteoarthritis. I fractured my big toe a few years ago,she noticed the arthritis from that. I have to consider back surgery because my dr. said to watch for signs of loss of bladder and bowel control. I am a bit afraid of back surgery. Sorry for rambling, thanks for your reply.
Hi Emma2017, I noticed your reply to Sugaree, and
it looks as if I have had a good number of orthopaedic procedures similar to yourself and was wanting to pick your brains, if that's okay.
In early 2020, I had Lumber Decompression surgery L5,L4,&S1, after numerous facet joint injections and 2 micro diskectomies, to give relief for long-term lower back and sciatica pain.
Anyway the operation was a complete failure and for some reason I went into a coma during the operation and had to get Naloxone as I was nearly a goner also, when I eventually came round in some ward I immediately informed the nurse and doctor I couldn't feel most of my left foot, which was mainly my 4 small toes, along with the heel, side foot, and sole of the foot.
This got me an immediate pass to the HDU ward for a week and was poked and prodded on the hour, along with a number of doctors asking me my name date of birth and other general information, after a week I was let into a taxi and remained in my bed for another 2 weeks.
The foot numbness is still constant daily 4 years later and goes from being completely number to hyper sensitive, or constant pins and needles.
I wrote directly to the orthopedic consultant who carried out the procedure and all the response I received from him was that 6 months was still very early and that the condition could last to 12 months or at worst remain for the rest of my life, but that he had tried his best and there was nothing else he could do for me.
I was to also get a hip operation on my pain full leg 2 months after the lumber decompression procedure but by this time my faith in the orthopedic department had gone and was as low as my Glasgow Coma Score number which was rated as a 3.
Good luck
I am so sorry your surgery went so badly. I have considered nerve decompression for daily sciatica . My neck also has nerve compression causing me terrible headaches and shoulder pain. Today happens to be a bad day so I think alot about surgery. I never heard of a successful back or neck surgery. So much to consider, but I like to hear from people that have tried surgery . I hope you are healing.
Hi Andrew, not sure what your question is. Your journey sounds bad to say the least. I can message you privately if you like.
I was told that tingling is pereferal neuropathy . I get it, tingling in feet at night. Luckily not very often. I have sciatica too.
