Peanutbutterplease profile image

I've lost a lot of weight naturally and I ache more now then I did when I was obese . I've had the top right side of my back just where you're bra sits and the pain is horrid and it radiates to my shoulder only on the right side I have days and a week or so and no pain then o I have weeks that go into months of pain the slightest lifting motion can disable me for days at a time . I don't take tablet form medication but use heat and salt baths but I am really struggling. Any tips or over the counter rubs for muscles I've tried deep heat voltral the usual suspects I don't feel they work

Hi there,

I’m sorry you’re in pain but exactly where is your pain - “top right of back where bra strap sits”, do you mean the bra strap over your shoulder? Or the strap under your bust near your shoulder blade?

What area exactly is it affecting - the use of your shoulder - for instance raising your arm up to shoulder height or up in the air or your upper back?

Kind Regards,

Mitch

Hi there,

Thanks, you say that the pain radiates along to the right shoulder. It could be a mechanical problem with your shoulder, I’ve had a couple of shoulder surgeries but one involved my cervical spine injuries & the other was a torn part of the shoulder that needed reattaching.

I suggest you self refer via your GP surgery for some physio, as they’ll be able to examine you & give their opinion on what they think is problematic, it may be a long wait though. Use ice when the pain flares & I’d buy a Tens machine which is an excellent way to help mask different types of pain, you’re doing the right thing with heat or a salt bath as they can help relax you & relieve pain. You may also find some stretches online that can help & make sure that you use your right shoulder & arm normally as much as possible as lack of use can reduce your range of motion & compound pain.

Good luck & let us know how you get on.

Kind Regards,

Mitch

I do suffer from siactica "flare ups in my lower back that then causes near everything in my right side hurts . Dullache type pain . I do stretches as I've had siactica problems over 20 years so it's pretty horrid . But this with my upper back will not go . Or it goes for a day or two sometimes I'm lucky a week but then boom iy is back and I can't do an awful lot until it decides to go . I do feel maybe a good deep sports massage will be good

Hi

Sorry to hear about your pain. Have you tried dry needing and Osteopathy? I have had endless upper body issues and these are the only things I have found to give me relief.

I too have had a strange sharp pain on my left side near my shoulder blade,I thought I had probably pulled a muscle but cant think how i could have done it as unable to do anything the least bit strenuous, only thing i can think of is stretching to pull car door shut, but a week on an its still there, hurts especially in any sudden movement especially if I try to turn over in bed, wondering if it could be arthritis as my hands(especially thumbs)are painful and my right shoulder, also spinal stinosis too is causing so much pain,I don't know what hurts the most,I have been doing my excercises that physio gave me for SS but not seen him since October and the shoulder blade pain is new, hope you find some relief and let me know if you find anything to help.
