Well I am forgetting i Ive posted mystory on this site, but looking for some input for any folks out there that my have experienced similar pain and condition. So I am 75 years old, along with PMR since 2016, and still onprednisone, I have had back issues for many years, degenerative , stenosis, bulging disk, and is last few years osteoarthritis, over last couple of years, the latter has limited me and have had lower back problems,. So my dr referred me to a pain clinic, went on May 1 2023, anethesiologist injected 8 small needles of bupovacaine, into back , and one in each groin, as had some groin pain on and off, the first appt, I seemed ok with, the second week did the same thing, except one injection, lower right back , seemed to hit a nerve, as pain was severe, almost went through roof, at any rate, 2 days later, woke up with severe pain, lower right back,, and pain in thigh, so saw him , told him, he said, oh well only been couple days, if I wanted could do cortisone injection to help with pain, at first I agreed, but came home read reveiws on this dr , anethesiologist, not good, has license suspended for malpractice, not following proper protocol re hygiene etc. I mention this as I feel this is what started my pain in front of thigh, and now numbness for weeks. My GP ordered MRI, and showed, extruded disk, nerve impingement at L2 and L3, GP sent referral to back surgeon, which I would only consider as last resort, told him was going to look into non invasive spinal decompression therapy, which have been doing for last 2 weeeks every day, there are 20 sessions altogether, idea being traction of spine, take pressure of disk, alllow to slip back in and get off that nerve. So far still having numbness, and pain , sometimes worse than others, in front thigh, wondering if anyone out there has experienced this same situation, and how helpful noninvasive therapy has been for you?

I have similar disk issues. I had a laminectomy a few years ago, and the pain worsened afterward. I started celebrex and Gabapentin, which helped, and started PT, which continues, and the pain worsens. Now am developing that front thigh pain I think you're describing. I had thought of trying non-invasive spinal decompression therapy, but maybe I will think twice after hearing you. I have had many injections and nerve ablations in various places, but nothing seems to work. I also have significant groin pain radiating to the testicle; no fun.

well I hope I didn,t discourage you, as many I have talked to , in the facility have had great success, relief, and continue maintenance treatment at least once a month or so, I have to say, I think it is slowly getting better, pain in front thigh comes and goes and fluctuates in severity, especially when standing walking (with walker) putting any pressure on leg, and groin pain seems to be in morning mostly, I have done a lot of research and reading, and to me I believe it,s the femoral nerve that,s impinged, compressed, causing pain down front right thigh , its possible you may get some relief if you have a compressed nerve in lower back, mine is L2 and L3,

Hi there Arvine! I’m 77 yrs and live in the UK. I have a severely degenerated lumbar spine and a slipped disc which they can do nothing about. I have had cortisone injections in my lumbar spine which did next to nothing for my pain, in fact the pain of the injections was excruciating! I’ve attended the pain clinic but they don’t give medication just refer you to a group to discuss pain, which I don’t need and didn’t attend. I’ve been on Gabapentin for about 3 years. I take 300mg 3 x daily and 600 at night. It really helps with the leg pain I was having due to Lumbar spine probs. Gabapentin is not something I want to take, it’s a case of having to. I also have peripheral neuropathy in my lower legs and feet and Axonal Sensory Neuropathy both caused by an antibiotic prescribed by my doctor!

We are sort of in the same boat, or sinking ship, it seems! I also had Shingles very badly at Christmas which I’m still not completely over, so painful. I can’t really offer much in the way of help, just to let you know you are not alone. I wish you well and hope you get some comfort from someone somewhere 💝xx
