Snoring noise when I take big breaths in and out after chest infection

SickofhavingNausea profile image

I had a reaaly bad chest infection/cold 3 weeks ago me and my mom both of us had it, I ended up in A and E on oxygen as my levels was around 90 spo2, since recoverd and feel a lot better with normal spo2 of around 96%, But when I had this infection I had this thing where when I would lie down at night there would be a crackling garling, popping noise coming from my throat all the time, This has since gone away, but now I have this snore like noise when I breath in and out, it goes away for a few minute's when I cough and then always returns. I am not sure what's causing this, Has anyone got any ideas, I am waiting for doctors to get me an appointment to see them but it is worrying me

What you describe is sputum I have COPD and I regularly have the snap crackle and pop the snoring sound is probably just your throat tightening with couching. SEE your doctor.

Hope you were able to see your GP! It sounds a lot like mucus to me; I used to get chest infections 3-6 times a year when I was younger/in school and had similar symptoms after each one.

Steam always helped me with coughing up/clearing the stuck mucus, which would be thick and sticky like treacle, so I could breathe more easily. Try taking a long, hot shower - it may help. Keep as much steam in the bathroom as you can. Alternatively, a bowl of hot (nor scalding, just enough to steam) water - put your head above it and a towel over your head for a few minutes to see if it helps loosen things up enough to expel.
