Pain on left side upper chest

Hi

I am new to this forum i decided to join because my doctors just crap and nobody can seem to help me. Been to A and E they will take their time on pretty much any follow ups and they get cancelled due to covid.

Anyways I have been suffering with this stabbing pain for a few months now. I have had my gallbladder removed around 2 months ago which they said went well but the pain was their before that. In anycase removal did not sort this problem out what I am about to mention.

Under my left breast probably about 5cm down from my nipple and then more across to the left about another 5cm or less, where I get pain underneath my rib or between 2 of them (kind of near the spleen organ) the pain is on and off. It sometimes last for about a day or 2 and then stays their pretty mild. It intensifies 30% of the time and it can stop me doing all sorts. I have just been tolerating the pain.

So far I have had an ultrasound which came back negative and I have been told it is not my spleen and not pancreatic problems. How ever I have been told it could be gastritis which I dont think it is due to me being on omeprazole for a very long time. I have asked for a endoscopy which they are not going to do anytime soon.

Today my doctor decides to tell me its nerve pain which I highly doubt and he just won't send me in for a CT scan on my chest area which the gastro surgeon said that would be better.

The pain medication does not really do anything and I have been tolerating the problem but now days its getting worse. I am lost now and the pain is pretty much random eating, not eating laying down and even walking around. The funny thing is somehow I manage to sleep when I have not slept for awhile and upon waking up the pain is not their for about an hour or less then I go back to feeling it.

I have considerably changed my diet as I eat more fibre foods and less of the fatty stuff. Lost quite abit of weight too. I weigh around 80kg from being over a 100kg since March 2020. My BP is in range and my pulse. No temperature or any flu like symptoms. Toilet is pretty normal as it can get with the gallbladder removal. Just a few minor issues like bowel movement, but I hear that's normal due to flowing bile.

I know going to a doctor is best but I am in limbo where its covid and lockdown also again they are no good. In amycase if anyone knows what this is or have any idea would be good to hear from you.

Sounds like it may be Costochondritis. It can be extremely painful. You may want to do a bit of research to see if it the case. Hope it helps and good luck to you!

Hi I am so sorry you are suffering so much.

I had gastritis some years ago. I lost a considerable amount of weight. My stomach reacted to any food. I lived on rice and chicken for months. I had an endoscopy which showed widespread gastritis. I was put on lansoprazole and it gradually improved.

Good luck

Jill
