Anyway, my dad has Had a sore throat for almost 3 weeks now. No cough no temperature etc. But today told me how his throat hurts so much when he swallows. I rang the gp for advice. I was shocked when he said it could be a symptom of covid. He should self isolate. Because it’s only a cough and no other symptom. Does anybody know much about just this kind of symptom
I think u should have him tested for covid just to be on the safe side my son was the same sore throat so his go told him he mite have covid so we got him tested it came back he did not have covid19
Best of luck for your Father .It`s easy to say but this is a prime season for Allergies which can cause sore Throats ,blocked or runny Nose etc so don`t panic too much yet. Another prime sign of Covid is a high temperature, but as GP`s are trying not to do face to face consultations that`s not easy to check.
I have had a sore throat for several weeks too. My doctor via E-mail told me “No fever, shortness of breathe, muscle aches or diarrhea then you don’t have typical symptoms.” My doctor said the COVID antibody blood test is more accurate than the nasal swab PCR test, but unless I have some of these typical symptoms it’s probably not indicated. I was by the way able to join a study & did received the nasal swab test, it was negative.
I googled the European DW T.V. show In Good Shape. In their (past show) library under sore throat (I think that is what I had searched) they had a segment on home remedies used around the world. It is interesting to watch if nothing else.
Have you any Vaseline in the house.? I’ve read this can help a persistent sore throat when swallowed, ( not eating anything afterwards for awhile) would think try a teaspoon/ desert spoon first day & if helps, same the following day. I’ve not tried it myself. Just what I have read
