Hi everyone. This is my first ever post. I'm Male 39 and a smoker. Over the past year I have noticed I get chest pain soon as I'm outside in cold weather. It goes away once I'm in the house ir indoors. Didnt worry me at all but today was very uncomfortable untill I got home and in the warmth. Anyone else had this? I'm going to make a GP appointment tomorrow to be on the safe side. Thanks for reading and any feedback appreciated.

Hi injustice, it sounds like you could have a chest infection, or just your lungs that are finding it hard to work through smoking. See what you doctor says.

If you decide to quit smoking please contact us on the Quit support community. You will be made most welcome and we dont pressurise anyone. :) xx

I'm actually planning on quitting once this week is over with. It's been a turbulent start to the new year although that's not an excuse but I think i would feel it easier once this week is over with and the family are all back to normal. So I will definitely be joining you and looking for advice. Thanks Malc

Circulation problem or spasms is my thought.Have u tryed heat after u experience this pain.? That could give u answers or two things to check off ur list.

Or vitamin deficiency?

Hello. I have had a similar experience with chest pain in cold weather, especially first thing in the morning. As already suggested it probably is lung related but it's worth considering circulation as arteries contract in cold temperatures. If you are getting problems when exercising or walking up hills/physical exertion then it could indicate this possible cause.

My advice would be to see your GP (or practice nurse if there is a long wait and please advise the receptionist of your symptoms). It should be relatively easy to get a diagnosis. In the unlikely event it is a circulation issue you may be referred for a stress test at a local clinic (walking uphill on a treadmill)

I gave up smoking and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. My family (and my wallet!) are very grateful. I don't wish to seem smug as I know that it is very difficult but you can do it. You will enjoy your life a lot more. Good luck and I wish you all the very best.

Covering your nose and mouth with a scarf when it's cold helps ease things a bit sometimes

It sounds like Angina to me . This condition can worsen in either cold weather or hot weather. Youi can get a spray to open up the veins which shrink in cold weather.
