I have a bulging disc which is pushing on a nerve, I’ve had the injections that didn’t work, in fact it has made it worse, I’m now on crutches as I just can’t walk unaided. I’m currently on 900mg per day of pregabalin, 400mg of Tramadol, 1000mg of naproxen and I’m taking paracetamol. I’m waiting for surgery, I had this done 3 years ago, lumber decompression and it worked brilliantly but this time the pain is off the scale. I’m worried that it won’t work this time. Has anyone had any problems with having it done a second time?
Thanks in advance
Cheryl

Hi chezza, I had the op done a second time about three years ago, and it worked a treat. Three weeks ago I had to have the same op on a disc on the other side, and it’s worked brilliantly. Like you I couldn’t walk unaided, and couldn’t stand for longer than 2 mins, this went on for7 months.
I hope you don’t have to wait too long to get surgery.
Sending you big hug, I know what you are going through ❤️
Thank you so much, it’s so lovely to hear that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I was starting to think that I would be like this forever but hearing from you have brightened up my day, thank you so much. I’m glad that it has worked for you 💕💕💕
Hi I've got same problem bulging disk which is hitting my sciatic nerve had nerve block done 5 weeks ago and OMG iam in worse pain than ever!cant put much pressure on my left leg,I have 2 use crutches, iam on gabapentin, morphine,co codomal and lots more been off work 4 last 4werks,got follow up on 13th December, thay did say if it doesn't work then thay might do the op!
OH it’s awful isn’t it, I was on tramadol, it didn’t touch the pain, been on Pregabalin, helped to a point, but not for standing. I am working my way off of them now, will be so good to get rid of the woozy drunk feeling.
Good luck, and hope you don’t have to wait too long for op.
I was alright for about 2 weeks after and then bam!!! It was horrific, just hope the operation will sort this out. Are you having any other treatment? Medication is helping but I am in large doses xx
Know they keep telling me theres nothing they can do coz the needle never worked am in so much pain day and night got told off for taking to much oramorph but what do you do when in so much pain xx
Hi there I have had a decompression and discectomy done 3 times on the same disc. Before the third one the pain was of the Richter scale, any movement had me crawling up the walls. It was better afterwards. Unfortunately I now have another bulge higher up and it’s bad, the injection did not help. Seeing the surgeon shortly and will see then.
I have various bulging disks along with other spinal problems and am now down yo 100mg pregabalin and its like 321 back in the room, it’s probably worth asking them to try again as they must not have got all the relevant nerves.
Thank you for your reply, I’m hoping that once I’ve had the op I’ll be able to come off the pregabalin, I’m copying well on it but I’ve heard the withdrawals are not nice but it will be worth it in the end 🤞
Hi all am having the same problem but I have seen the spinal surgeon ( I live in Wiltshire) and have to have spinal decompression surgery but he has told me the waiting list for the surgery is 9 months. Is this normal or am I missing doing something?
Hi there , if you need acdf you will be in 18 weeks after seeing surgeon , im waiting for operation c3 fusion I already have c4c5 fusion , I go to the Walton center Liverpool is that where you go .
Hi Thanks for replying I live in Swindon, Wiltshire so long way from you, guess the waiting times are vastly different depending on where you live!!! Have spoken to my GP as I am having bad reactions to all medications he is giving me and asked if he could have a word to try and get me up the list but he says that is not possible andI just have to keep trying different medications and wait till I get a date which confirmed as being 9 months or longer!!!.
I’m under the impression that once you have been referred by you gp and seen a surgeon treatment has to be completed within 18 weeks. This is the NHS guide lines I think? I would question your surgeon and gp and keep pushing as waiting that long is totally unacceptable.
