I have had a pain in my right foot now for the past 5 days, I know I should practice what I preach, but this is agony on my big toe and that has swelled the whole ankle, I have not had chance to see the doctor but if it is still bad Saturday after work I may go down to A&E , but can anyone give me the heads up first please it went to my knee but that seems ok just ankle now

Thanks for your advice in advance, its appreciated

Hi

Have you gone over on it at all? Could it be a sprain or a touch of arthritis? Take care Lynne

Hey Lynne,

Thanks, I havent sprained it couple of people suggested gout or something, never had this before, sprained yes but that wasn't as painful as this, my knee did this a couple of years ago, lasted about 10 days and went, think if its still bad the weekend will pop down A&E hate disturbing them they are busy as it is with drunks etc. thanks for the reply

Hi Mark I would definitely get it checked out it could be gout, my dad had the same thing last weekend and ended up in hospital for a week. Hope you get better soon

Hello Mascotty02 , as a sufferer your symptoms sound like gout . Could you not get a telephone consultation with your Gp, guess not. It could also be infectious arthritis or one or two other things. A&E won't be pleased that you did not see your GP sooner . If you have a walk in go there they are open till late. You need to see a doctor for sure. Let us know how it goes. Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

Hey Katie,

Thanks for your response, unfortunately it takes 3-4 weeks to get an appointment with my GP and when I called 111 they advised to contact my GP and a telephone consultation even now would be 1.5 weeks wait, this is a no win situation, and now this is over a week now and in agony, I sprained my ankle a few years ago and can honestly say that that was less painful than whatever this is now. I appreciate what you are saying but I think now its an emergency, I would be more than happy if someone came around with a chain saw and take my foot off am sure that would be less painful

take care and thank you

Think you will have to opt for A&E and endure any scorn . But be prepared for a long wait to see a doctor. Best Wishes. Appointments at most doctors are similar these days even if you are prepared to see anyone let us know how you get on please.

Hi Mark. A & E is not a replacement for your GP. Before you head there, ring 111 and they will advise the best course of action in your area for your situation.
