Are you having your morphine reduced with the intention of moving onto another opiate ? Or are you going to be trying methods other than medication ?

I reduced and stopped morphine but started fentanyl.

Can I ask did that help, I'm going to need something

I had a very bad time on Fentanyl but that's my personal experience.

I think my doctors waiting to see wot happens at my app for pain management can do first did there fentanyl as they were reducing your morfine

Yes and I've changed over to something else now. Most pain management staff try to get you off morphine now as t have realised that constantly increasing it is not necessarily beneficial.

Hey Daisydodo I've been on morphine for 10 years the dosage gradually increasing over the years. I ended up on 180 most twice a day. Hate the stuff worse thing ever was never told by GP how addictive it can be , a few weeks ago after a conversation with go decided to reduce it , it's so hard the withdrawal is horrendous, I reduced it by 10% for a week then 20% I'm now doing 120mg twice a week, but I'm determined I'll be off them in time . Good luck to you honey 😉😉

in reply toJackjac1

Sorry I don’t mean to sounds silly or rude but how did you not know that about morphine , it’s an opiate of course it’s going to be addictive , and your doctor at some point would of said he would have to wear you off of it for that very reason.

If your getting put on a strong medication you clearly need to always check and do a bit of research about it otherwise your just putting thing into your body that you have no idea what they are going to do or cause long term.

Even ten years ago I was told that about morphine tramadol even cocodamol and by multi doctors.

Welll done for being able to reduce them hopefully you feel better soon x

Complete ignorance & I trusted my doctor no she never mentioned anything about reducing them, obviously not as savvy as you & haven't seen multi doctors just my GP rheumatologist & neurologist who actually increased them.. as I said in my post it was the worst thing I ever did. I'm 62 & was brought up to respect & do as Dr says. I posted hoping other people would think twice. Why say sorry then be so judgemental

in reply toJackjac1

I wasn’t being judgemental I just didn’t understand, not all doctors should be trusted, if your other specialists wanted to increase it then your GO should go along with them they are the specialist.

You shouldn’t have to be in that much pain x

I beg to differ you need to read your reply back.ive been in this support group for around 2 years found it caring, supportive, helpful advice, after your comments I won't post again, this reply will be my last. I only wanted people to think twice about taking morphine . I knew it was addictive but didn't realise how addictive. It was the withdrawal symptoms that are the problem & no one can tell you about those unless they experience them GP or not. I only came on this am to wish people happy mothers day & was confronted by your reply. I'm terribly hurt by it . It was the last thing I expected on this SUPPORT group. It certainly wasn't supportive or helpful bexamy

I think your being slightly over the top there.

I’m sorry but I just presumed everyone who takes tablets like morphine and opiates and isn’t a child knows what they are getting themselves into in the long run personally I like to know what I’m putting into my body and if long term how bad things will be. Sorry for making the ausumption that everyone did that.

I wasn’t trying to offend you I just didn’t understand how after how long you were on them you had no clue, and saying your going not to post again just because of what I said it slight sillly if you and your loss for a great group.

I will just make sure not to comment on a post of reply of your again

Again sorry if you think I was being that awful I truely wasn’t

Thankyou Daisydodo I no how tough it is, when you have multi things wrong it's difficult to find medication that works for everything. I'm going into hospital tomorrow for an operation, more different pain haha. Make sure you tell your GP how bad you're feeling, sometimes you get there & don't feel too bad then don't tell them how bad you really feel, no I've done that in the past. Good luck honey keep smiling & let me no how you get on 😋
