Xray guided injection in ankle

Hi I had a xray guided injection in my right foot yesterday I'm now in more pain than i was especially round the ankle bone ,I've had a ice pack on it but still today it's as bad any body else suffered this

No, sorry. My husband had a steroid injection in shoulder many years ago. He was told to take paracetamol as it would be even more painful initially - till steroid took affect.

But yours sounds completely different. Did they inject into the joint? What with? Did the Dr who did it presrcribe anything or say to take Ibuprofen and paracetamol? Did they say to expect pain initially?

If I were you then I would phone GP now and ask for a call back or better still an emergency appointment for today or this evening if you can get there. OR

First try phoning xray department and ask if there was anyone available who could advise.

No need to apologise. That's where I thought it was. Not sure about husband's shoulder but it was many years ago and not same anyway.

Sorry you are in pain, I had plenty of those injections in my feet (also in ankles, back, hips and wrists) It's quite normal to be in more pain for the fist few days. If it's not getting better in 3 days or so go and see the GP. Take some painkillers to help in the next few days to take the edge of the pain. Hope it settles down for you soon!!

It sounds like you have what is known as steroid flare. I have had several injections in my big toe joints, and sometimes I would have a flare so bad that I couldn't put weight on the foot for two days, and other times nothing at all. They say that if you have a flare it is a sign that it is working, so hopefully it will ease up and a week later you will be getting some good results.

I've heard other people complain of this when the injections been in their back. I personally haven't had the problem. But it typically does go away after a week or so. But you might want to put a call into your doctor just to let them know. They may want you to do something about it other than icing it.
