From around November 2022 I’ve had a pain in my ankle. It’s not a very bad pain and not consistent. It was only when moving in certain ways such as when lying down and my foot relaxes, putting my foot up on the bath to wash my legs and standing on any uneven surfaces. The pain does come and go some days. I did go to the doctors and saw a physio on a day when it didn’t hurt and he said that it was nothing basically. Surely it can’t just hurt for no reason. Today was a bad day and it hurt just walking around normally all day and very bad pain when I stood on a bump earlier. Is it really just nothing? Has anyone had the same?

Have you tried orthotics? Many sports stores have a facility for gait analysis, which might show up a problem.Meanwhile, you could try taping up the ankle area- check out on YouTube for how to do it. Just use zinc tape.
Instead of physio try a podiatrist. They are the expert in feet, and will often know far more about ankle pain than a physio. In the UK you can often self refer to podiatry now, and some GP surgeries have podiatrists associated with them as well.
Could it be a stress fracture? How old are you? Maybe you need an X-ray? Is your vitamin D level okay ?
I agree with seeing a podiatrist and potentially getting orthopaedic shoes.
Hi Noname4, this happens to me all the time, mine is due to breaking my ankle 3 years ago and not getting the correct treatment. It wasn't put in a cast or air boot. Mine hasn't got better because of this, but it is not to say that you have the same problem. I had a nasty fall downstairs at home. I would try to book in to see a physiotherapist, I went private to see a podiatrist and in my opinion she was useless. It might be a wait though like everything else is at the moment but a physio might be able to help you. Good Luck xx
I was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome because the pain wasn't going away and i have all the symptoms, 3 specialists told me I had it, then I went to see a so called professor at Salford Royal Hospital and he said I hadn't, all because when he saw my foot which was early in the morning and I hadn't walked on it for very long, so it wasn't swelled up. If he had seen me later it would have been, so I know where you are coming from. They automatically think we are putting it on. They just don't understand. I hope you get sorted out soon, Good Luck and let me know how you get on.
