Back locked out . . . again

I'm at my wits end . . .

I've lived & suffered with chronic low back pain for quite a few years. I'm prescribed buprenorphine, methocarbamol, naproxen and pregabalin, which affords me a mild degree of pain relief on good days, but every now and again, I turn or sneeze or do something really quite normal which makes my life hell.

My lower back locks out, and the spasms are electrifying. I'm sure there are a few sufferers on here who know what I mean, and for those that don't, try to imagine being tasered without warning!

I struggle to stand or sit, and laying down is impossible, as is showering or bathing!

I think I'm on my 5th day this time, and during that time I've not slept, it's absolute torture!

I've not bothered my GP or A&E, because I know there is nothing they can do. I've previously had the injections & ablations without any real success. Rest and gentle movement usually sorts me out. I'm back to basics, alternating the trusty hot / cold packs, and my TENS machine is strapped on. I'm housebound till it subsides, so hopefully I'll be fine tomorrow, I need some bread & milk ;-)

This isn't a plea for advice, I just thought I'd have a rant on here, you lovely people are always full of support. PMA is helpful . . . . I hope everybody is pain free and geared up for a lovely weekend.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, the saying backpain never kills you but tortures you!! Is ever real, been there on and off for over twenty years. Keep doing what you know best, ice packs etc I swear by hot salted baths if you can get in them with radox always help but ice packs first. Someone said a sauna can really help to and a massage.

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience of "back locking" or spasms as others may say. It is great to hear other people's perspective and also your acceptance. I have the same and take similar medications. After the extreme pain and inability to move for a while what I am finding really frustrating is the length of time it then takes to get back to what I can only describe as "normal pain". You seem strong and accepting? Thanks for sharing
