Hello there;

Hello John. It certainly is worth attending. Naturally the type of help that they can offer depends greatly upon the patient.
They have a wide range of services that can be offered from councilling, physical therapies like infrared heat, Tens, physiotherapy , appliances. A more skilful review of you medication than your GP can offer. Just to begin a list of what may be offered depending upon the person and the reason that that they are suffering.
I hope you find your referal beneficial.
Kind regards, Rib
If its like the one I went on which was in a group, the camaraderie was one of the best things. To be with others that understand long term pain is re-assuring, and also sharing new ideas for coping was great. Go with an open mind and be brave to contribute - makes all the difference.
Hope it works out for you
Hi. I have no experience with pain management clinics, but I would go if I could . I imagine that you would get a lot from the support of people who understand what it means to live with pain. Anything else would be a bonus I reckon Personally, I have found the isolation and lack of understanding from GPs and friends to be hugely difficult to cope with. I hope that the clinic helps you. Good luck!
Hi Shawnie,, your reply struck a chord with me. Feels very isolating when noone else around understands or wants to try to know what you are experiencing. I attended one of the pain management courses and found it very uplifting and reassuring. If you get the chance to get on a course go for it. Enquire through physiotherapy at your nearest hospital. I am pretty sure the availability is nationwide.
Hang on in there
Definitely worth it many gain from it and take what they need to support themselves . Oain management groups don't discuss your own personal issues they give you the skills to work out what's best for you on how to cope with day to day life with chronic pain. The group gives a better understanding of how you see yourself and how to manage your own daily struggles . How to cope with flare ups etc . It's not a GP service . It's a support group for people in like minded situations
I did a 12 week course, one afternoon a week. It was one of the best things I have done as far as pain is concerned. You will find some things helpful, some things laughable but there will be the gems that you will use all the time. Like everything it's up to you how much you get out of it. I found pacing and relaxation techniques the two things I use every day. I now do them automatically. Plus you are all in the same boat, so the isolation pain can give us is less real 🐸
