This is my little piece of Paradise lots of planting covers weeds. Best thing I ever did no grass. Easy maintenance. Strangly when I look at plants my pulse rate drops. I wish I could be calm all the time. When the pain is severe I don't seem to have any patience and wish I wouldn't shout at hubby he is so good. πΈ

A little piece of heaven
Aww that's lovely.we always hurt the ones we love,so the song goes.im sure he knows you don't mean to shout. The garden is truly lovely.the colours are beautiful.i would love to be sitting in your garden π±π±πΆπΆ
That is extremely kind of you. Thing is I don't mean it. I get exasperated with the pain when it's so severe it's all I focus on. I'm just a bit short with him & don't mean it. Hubs has been in pain for a lot more years than me he handles it well. I know he's hurting when he goes quiet & I respect that, I've got it he doesn't do that with me he just carries on talking & I'm not listening π
Thanks for sharing your beautiful garden, I have done a bit of pottering today, might as well give the sodding shoulder a reason to scream, it does anyway. And the garden repays me with a bit of feel good.
Well Nedd you obviously had good weather. It's been down right awful here monsoon rain wind cold. I live in the SE usually better than this. Though I've never thought June flaming more like flaming horrible. Just to add to the weather woes it's certainly affecting my joints am very stiff & achey. Oh to walk round the garden & look at the clematis June is their time to start the display. I have 30 varieties climbing up and over everything, so versatile. Glad you managed a bit & thank you for your kind comments.
π€π
Warm weather does make a difference to body and spirit I find.
I love clematis. I have planted many over the years and often wonder why most never seem to reappear in spring. Except that Montana job that rules rampant. Think of all the wild life you support. Make space for nature as they say. Off to pull up the forgetmenots which have been suppressing other weeds and floating in a cloud of blue over the garden.
Wow, wow, wow, wow, ...........wow! !
Fabulous garden. I rid myself of grass years ago and it was the best thing I ever did too. The weeds are there but I have managed to mask them with rampant plants of my own choosing. It hurts to garden but I ration myself to 15mins - and then a days recovery - it is worth it. Will be posting a photo of my garden soon, hope you like it.

Thank you yes does help no grass a least I haven't got that chore & quite frankly I couldn't do it.
It is nice to know I am not alone suffering as I do I could not quite believe it would come to this pacing myself with just 15mins & then lie on the sofa to recover π€ Always been a get up and go person π
Huge shock and knock to the ego to realise I can't cut the mustard anymore. Society is hell bent on pushing the idea that you can remain ever youthful into ones dotage. Some of us are past are sell by date well before others despite our best efforts! π² it all comes down to a roll of life's dice. I reckon.
Oh Jen your garden is simply stunning! I too find the garden a good haven however have to leave majority of work to hubby. I can loose myself for a few minutes simply looking at your garden pic. I can relate to your posts as I too have fybro psoriatic & oesteo, etc and oh a new diagnoses of something called Horners Syndrome in left eye. Had iritis since 1994 in same eye and it seems it's turned into this! And again my poor patient hubby has to cope with my mood swings! I don't know what I would do without him . Hope you are having a good day.
Oh dear we are very similar in that regard I have Bletharitis they thought it was Iritis feel for you, take care of that.
Thank you so much for your kind compliment . When I was fit I planted with the idea that there will always be something in flower colour style no weeds. I have one prizes and been in TV with Monty Don π
It is any easy garden to manage thank goodness as I can't do anything now π©

Hi jenharri
Beautiful garden. ππ»π
My mum did something similar, got rid of the grass and lots of coverage from similar plants to yours. It does look lovely even when she can't do anything for a while (she has Parkinson's and a sick son to help out π¬).
She planned it all 'for her old age' along with upvc double glazing and soffits / facia boards etc on her house. Low maintenance was the key.
Funnily enough she ended up getting an OT assessment to find out if there was anything she could change about her house and was advised to go to Age Concern as they had specialist gardeners that could come and give a free assessment of the garden.
Amongst other things like a handle near the step at the front door.
Anyway, enough rambling.
I hope you get some nice weather so you can enjoy the fruits of your labour a bit.
Ade
That is so beautiful
Thank you so much Ade that's a good idea I could do with handrails in my garden. It is on levels and we do have steps.
Thank you once again

No problem. π
The OT assessment was remarkably quick as well given how much stress the entire system is under at present. Within 2 weeks of calling them direct.
Her main concern was the step down, and the raised door sill at her front door. She was a district nurse before she retired and remembers only too well going in to her 'little old ladies' π as she used to call them due to having to dress their shins after tripping in the same place. She says some of them had unbelievable trauma from something so seemingly innocuous as the front door step.
I'm lucky that the sill is recessed on mine!

Indeed I know where mum is coming from there I'd fall on nothing if I'm not careful.
Thanks once again x
