Hi Ktchard - there's a very good thyroid forum on here if you need advice about that side of things - search for the ThyroidUK forum on Health Unlocked. I think there's a pernicious anemia one too (which is what it's called if you have a B12 deficiency) but I don't know much about that one. B12 is mentioned quite a lot on the thyroid forum too as the two problems seem to go hand in hand.
Great let us know how it goes. My daughter has B12 deficiency and has injection every 8 weeks. Around 5 to six weeks she is exhausted and just wants to sleep all day and has a constant headache. As soon as she has the injection the headache goes and she no longer feels tired in the day. She actually looks forward to having it done lol.
Does your daughter know that she can get additional benefit through using sublingual B12 supplements on top of her injections? There are loads of us who do this because we can't get the doctor to give us enough B12. I use this treatment protocol difficulty-swallowing.com/t... you can't overdose as it is a water soluble vitamin and the body excretes anything it doesn't need, but the headaches and fatigue are an indicator that she is still way short of her requirements. The vitamins are cheap and available at any pharmacy or online in the UK. All the best.
Here is a list of B12 deficiency symptoms difficulty-swallowing.com/s... from your description it certainly sounds as if you could have a B12 deficiency. If the doctors say you don't make sure you get the actual B12 level (in some countries having lower than 500 means you are deficient, the level is much lower in the UK). And if need be you can buy methyl B12 and take this over the counter sublingual form to bring your levels up. You could possibly have the MTHFR gene mutation which requires metafolin supplementation as well as B12. All the best.
