Head pain

Am having severe stabbing pain on right side of head above ear situated about middle of head, pain lasts for seconds, but extremely painful and frequent, started yesterday thought it may go away, but has not so am getting a little worried, I am taking meds for high cholestral, and spinal pain/ had two operations 7 years ago

This doesn't sound good, I would call 111, they can take a while but at least you should get a rough idea of what's going on. is the pain triggered by anything like reading or concentrated tasks? the last time I got head pains was due to dehydration and the time before that was the need for glasses to wear while doing concentrated tasks.

this can be trigeminal neuralgia is it in yr jaw and ear could also be temperal manibular joint really should tell gp your concern as tmj can be dangerous i have had what you describe for long time but cant find out cause sometimes i just lay on my side with hot water bottle on side of face to try and help, paracetamol is no help but neurofen capsules may relieve it a but but please do tell doctor asap kind regards and warm wishes to you

Hi Selb, am wondering if this could be shingles, mine began a couple of years ago with sharp stabbing pains in my head, do get it checked as the sooner you get help the better.
