Fentanyl is now ONLY for cancer patients. No insurance will conver it unless you have cancer. It is highly addictive (as you well know) and sometimes, less is more. I love my osteopath, and I have a 4 level cervical fusion, and a whole host of other injuries. My osteopath is the best ever, and I always leave, better!

Hi there,

If I were you I would go back to your gp and tell him that you are still in pain. Has he suggested any other options such as a visit to a pain management clinic? Good luck. Xx

Hi Rari82, the best pain relief is the one that suits you and gives the most relief, to find the best one you need to work with your GP in order to try the many options available, also there are many herbal remedies, plus heated pads ect these days so try all, this may not be that helpful but we are all different and what works for one may not for another. Every best wish

Hi rari82, You really should be asking your doctor this question, you don't say what strength pregabelin you are taking !!!! you maybe better off having a higher dose of the pregabelin and using a tens machine and going to a pain management clinic also your doctor may feel injections may be needed, It is a long journey to get your meds right but you must do it via your doctors, remember people react differently to different meds also taking different meds together can do more harm than good . Hope you get sorted.

All the above advice is spot on, were all different so you will need to find what suits you, I'm taking dihydrocodeine after trying Tramadol which gave me bad side effects and Codeine which "I've been using for 6 years but it did little for the pain whereas the Dihydrocoeine works really well but its stronger so theres more risk of addiction, med's are a bit like life, theres no such things as a free ride so you need to be aware of the down sides, I.E side effects and/or intolerance and the biggest problem of all dependancy. Keep these in mind at all times and you won't go far wrong.

An osteopath that does manipulations.

I already went down the pill path, injections, patches, radio frequency.

Best doctor I ever found is my osteopath, who gives instant relief, with no side effects.

I have a (4) level cervical anterior fusion, with 8 screws, and a titanium plate.

I have had a knee surgery, left ankle, low back, and (3) cervical surgeries, so I am a mess.

Find someone for a referral if you can. Everything you are taking is bad for your liver and you will

have trouble with constipation.

definitely pain clinic is the way to go. I got to maximum doses of codeine, but a visit to the pain clinic has given me a strategy of using different meds (not just straight painkillers) and now I'm taking a whole lot less than I used to, but with better results. Its all really individual though - just be open to whatever the pain specialist offers as they know their stuff.

Hi There,

Sorry you don't seem to be getting anywhere with your gp. What doses of Pregebalin, codeine and tramadol are you taking now?

Rari, a Pain Clinic is not the same as a Pain Management Programme. These can take up to three weeks of intensive therapy to complete. Advice regarding pain medication is only a part of the Programme and the emphasis is on weaning off where possible because pain medication, whilst necessary and helpful for acute pain, post op pain and terminal illness, is not effective for chronic pain. A Pain Clinic will assess you and try to relieve pain with injections, pills etc but will not give you the regime to self manage your pain, as thoroughly as a Pain Management Programme. Ask your doc if you can be referred to one near you if possible. I note you have a small child. Would you have someone to help if you were offered a place?
