I have been on this for a while and have put on so much weight that I can hardly move Is there an alternative that anyone can suggest
Can anyone tell me if they have used an alter... - Pain Concern
Can anyone tell me if they have used an alternative to pregabalin
Hiya, I use gabapentin and refused to change it to pregabalin bcos of the weight problem a lot of pple complained off. Just got d dose increased and its been fine with my nerve pain
I went through the usual progression of neuropathic pain txs - amitriptyline, gabapentin, pregabalin, IV lidocaine infusion & then drew the line at duloxetine (Cymbalta) ... none of them worked for me.
Pregabalin is meant to be more bioavailable than gabapentin, so lower dosages/easier titration/fewer side effects (allegedly) than gabapentin, but I had an awful time getting the therapeutic dose with both pregabalin & gabapentin and both made me very dopey as well.
I found gabapentin easier to live with than pregabalin. I think they like to prescribe pregabalin first, but, as a pharmacist asked me, "if the side-effects of a drug out-weigh the benefits, why are you taking it?"
Yes, Oxcarbazepine, Topiramate, morphine sulphate, Tramadol or combinations thereof are all options. They work for me, keeping doses below the level of side effects kicking in.
Yes carbamazepine . I got fewer side effects.
