After being on Olaparib for 2 years it’s back. I have had very low CA125 and a clear scan in June. Last week bloods went crazy and was asked in for a scan. Today they’ve told me there is evidence of disease. They think they might be able to do surgery and then chemo again. They’ve said now that it’ll just keep coming back and basically they’ll keep me going for as long as possible. I am 40 well 41 in two weeks. This has been part of my life since June 2022. All I wanted to do was live to see my daughter get through school. She’s 11. I’m so sad. Nobody expected this as everything had been going so well. I’m so angry. Life just isn’t fair. Tonight I had to sit down and tell my child that cancer had come back. I’m just venting.

It’s come back…feeling like rubbish
Hi, I’m Victoria 54 yo Ovarian Cancer 3C, 5 years in diagnosis, In 2019 when I got sick my daughter was 11, she was crying bitterly because children are afraid to loose their parents. In 2 years after operation and chemos the cancer came back. Yes, I and my people were desperate but I wanted to live and went through operation and out of 6 courses of chemo I had only 3. Why? Because on February 24 2022 the devil putin started the war in my country in Ukraine. My treatment was terminated but I didn’t flee from my country. One thing I understood that war is worse than cancer. Every day we cry over the departed young men and women on funeral ceremonies in the downtown.
My dear oncosister, you have all benefits to fight and win. You will make it because life is good.
So sorry for what you’re having to endure on top of your cancer I cannot even begin to imagine xx Jen
So sorry to read this and yes, although I feel sad for myself and other OC friends who are battling this disease in our sixties, our struggles are slight compared with what people of all ages endure during war.
Sorry that you’re going through this at such a young age with a young family, but please don’t give up. The oncologists don’t know everything and have no idea how an individual will fare. I know 2 women, both 4b HGSOC. Both have had a recurrence followed by surgery and chemo. One was told 3 months to 3 years, currently 6 years. The other had a recurrence almost immediately after first line and is still NED 4 years later. Never give up. ❤️
Oh that's really hard. I feel for you. What type of OC have you got? I have clear cell/endometrioid, stage 2b, and am on second recurrence. I was 56 or so but no children to worry about. Can your team offer you anything other than ops/chemo? Trials, immunotherapy? Mine wants me to have another major op/chemo but I am resisting at the moment and trying alternatives. I was told I had very very high chance of recurrence only after it had recurred.
Is it worth getting a second opinion?
Do not worry about venting - that's what we're here for.
Lots of love
xx
Hello
I'm sorry to hear this, so young and with a young child, life isnt fair atall. If there is to be a positive side, 2 years is a good length of time in the scheme of long term prognosis, as is the opyion of surgery, although I am sure it doesn't feel like that to you right now. It also means that chemo combo does work for you, and will always be open to you. Having no options is the worst place to be.
I had 3 weeks NED only and mine has returned. The standard treatment won't now work (cancer has returned after within 6 maths so I am resistant) surgery also isn't an option due to it being small nodules in my lungs and lymph nodes near my heart. So I am left with Caelyx which they have given me a 10% chance of working 🙏
I know it's a horrible set back but please keep the faith as you may have many happy years ahead with your daughter, none of us really know 🤷🏻♀️
All very best wishes xx
