I am a 12 year survivor currently on Elahare. Just had my fourth round of treatment and noticed that my CA125 has gone up. I am afraid that I will be taken off and pout on Doxil. I really don’t want to lose my hair again. Anyone in a similar situation? Any information is appreciated. Stay strong my ladies!

I know someone on it and they added Avastin when hers went up. It’s really worked for her but side effects may stop it. Don’t worry yet!

Sorry that I can't help you but I just wanted to congratulate you on 12 years!! That's wonderful. Don't give up now. As we all know those markers can change for a lot of reasons but your team has looked after you (brilliantly) this far, so I'd be trusting their opinion on this. Losing hair again is a small price. I've always looked on it as the equivalent of a soldier's Medal of Courage. Good luck. 🙏💜

You didn't specify the percentage increase, if it's gone up only slightly, you may find your oncologists tolerance is quite high for not rocking the boat. However FWIW if Doxil is your next option per your onc there were a bunch of things I found distasteful about it but hair loss was not one! My hair thinned but not noticably to others (even family) and never all fell out. No bare spots even. Please do let me know how you fare if you wish. I'm only at 5.5 years but on Elahere now

Thank you for your help. My CA125 went up from 82 to 142 in one month. It had just dropped 50 points two months ago.

That's so discouraging. I can understand your fear and uncertainty. I hope you are able to talk with your doctor soon

I don’t have any experience of Elahere but I’m delighted to hear that you are a 12 year survivor . I have made 4 years but my treatment options are getting limited . It has cheered me up to hear that you have made 12years ( although I know we are all different ) My Ca125 shot up after an infection so it may not be related to your treatment .

❤️❤️

Hi Lookingahead,

Thank you. I know how much it means to find out that there are some long term survivors out there. Keep fighting and living! God Bless you.

Congratulations on the long interval between treatment. I have recently finished a six month course of Carbo and Caelyx (Doxil). I used a cold cap but did not experience any hair loss other than slight thinning so I wouldn't worry if I were you. You may not need anything anyway. My CA125 was 5000 plus before second line treatment began. Hope all goes well for you.
