Hello everyone, I was on Niraparib for three years as of this month. I had four chemos , debulking surgery and three chemos following surgery. I was then put on Niraparib and now my Dr. said that I can discontinue this drug. I am NED after all that and now I will be on surveillance tests and visits occasionally. I am so happy that I am NED and I am hoping that this will continue for a long time, the Lord willing. Just posting my happy thoughts today ! 🌺🥰 wishing everyone well. !

As they say ‘making it count’. 🥂. Katy
Hi Donna, after all you have been through thats great news to get & 🤞you will stay healthy & well for many, many years ahead. I am currently on Niraparib since mid Jan and after having a few hiccups with low platelets & low haemoglobin my body is finally excepting the lower dose of 100 grams & all is stable so its great when you read positive news so thanks for letting us know Xx
Hi Tulips66, I had a few bumps in the road on my 100 mgs. also. I am so happy that I continued on and stayed NED for three years on Niraparib. I was BRCA negative, so I feel happy that this drug kept me going. They told me that if I was BRCA positive, it might work better, so I feel blessed that I am NED after three years. Take care, Donna xx
Your post has given me hope I'm on niraparib and in September I will have been on it a year great news.jaynex
Thankyou Ann 🥰 Hugs to you too and wishing you well xx
Wonderful news! Maybe you and I can get together and do some duets one day. Oh wait ...
Hi Donna, your news is inspiration to us all. Thank you for sharing as it gives us all hope, when things may still be uncertain for many of us. You have certainly had your belly full of treatment (excuse the pun)! Wishing you a long and healthy cancer free life. XX 🌹
You are so right saying “ belly full of treatment”. I am so thankful that this “ old body” (76 going on 77 in November) has come this far with my treatments. Wishing you a cancer free life also , Donna xx Thanks
76 is the new 56! It's just a number, it's what we put into every day that matters. Since I've been on this journey for the last 20 months, I feel my life has come to a standstill and consists only on tests, treatments, more tests, endless waiting for results, delays in treatments due to abnormal bloods. Anyway, I've got my last chemo on Thursday and hoping subsequent PET scan will be encouraging, so I can get on with my life and get some quality back. Theresa 🌹
Hi Theresa, just sending my best wishes for your last chemo and scan. It sure is true when you mention our lives revolve around tests, scans and treatments. I’ll keep thinking that the new 76 is just 56. Sounds pretty good to me! Ha ha 👍 Take care, Donna 🥰
Wonderful news Donna. Enjoy the great years ahead & I'm sure there will be many. 💜
Hi Bobbylynn, Thankyou for your reply to me. I live in the U.S. and the medical terms must be different in Canada. I like the remission term, it sounds hopeful. Sending my best wishes for good health, Donna 🥰
Hi Pianoplayer. I was diagnosed in January, 2021, Stage 3 HGS. Had a hysterectomy Dec, 11, 2020. Pathology report came back HGS cancer in left fallopian tube, Stage 1. Referred to an oncologist who I saw Jan 12, 2021 who did another pathology and it came back Stage 3 HGS. 6 rounds of chemo and in Sept went on Niraparib. It will be 2 years in Sept. Oncologist recommends I stay on it another years. Minimal side affects although lately I have noticed I am a little light headed at times and more tired lately but I will be 82 at the end of the month so hopefully it's my age. My question is, did you ever feel light headed when you were on Niraparib. Other than that my side effects have been minimal. I live in Toronto, Ontario and fortunately we have one of the top cancer hospitals in the world so I feel my oncologist (head of a team of 5 who assess each ovarian cancer patient before treatment is recommended) so the recommended treatment of another year on Niraparib must have been a joint decision. Terry
Hi Terry, I was diagnosed stage3c in October of 2019 with high grade serous carcinoma. I had 4 chemos, 5 hour debulking surgery and 3 more chemos. I was BRCA negative, so I wasn’t’ sure how niraparib would work. I managed 3 years on it, but did have to take a break once in awhile due to low hemoglobin, UTIs and Covid. I would get shortness of breath with low hemoglobin and I did feel light headed too occasionally. I see that you will be 82 soon and I am 76 turning 77 in November. Your age can be a factor and that being said you are doing well. I started out with 200 mgs. of niraparib, but the side effects were not good. They lowered my dose to 100, which was so much better. I am so happy that I am able to stop taking this, but I will be monitored once in awhile. I live in Michigan and had an excellent oncologist. They staged me at 4 after my surgery, because it spread to my intestines and my abdominal wall. I feel blessed that I have gone this far in my journey. You are older than me, but your overall health is a great contributor on healing through all of these treatments. Bless your heart and I will be praying for your good health in the coming year. Take care, Donna 🥰🙏xx
how awesome, Donna. Wish you well and have a great party!!
Thankyou Goodgirl98! A party sounds good, except I have mixed feelings about that. My husband is fighting pancreatic cancer and is having a tough time, so I don’t want to celebrate my being NED. Thankyou anyway for your happy reply. Donna 🥰.
fantastic fantastic and fabulous!!! Xx
Thanks PPSCENE ! Xx
Just thinking of you and wonder how you're doing
Hi, I have been doing pretty well so far. My ferritin level was low last fall. This is my iron storage. The treatments can affect that and they also found a small bleed on my endoscopy last year. They fixed it ( AVM) so my numbers went back up, after a 4 hour iron infusion. I had my blood checked every 4 weeks and my hemoglobin and ferritin is ok. I have a gynecologist appt. tomorrow (cancer gyn). I am going to talk to them and ask how often they want to do labs. They might stretch it out if the numbers look alright to be doing that. My CA 125 is doing great at about 15, so that makes me feel good. Thanks for asking about my health and I sure hope that you are doing alright. Please send me a message if things are not that well. Thanks, Donna 😊
