I was diagnosed high grade stage 3c peritoneal in Autumn 2021, I have had carbo/taxol/avastin, debulking surgery. Followed by avastin alone which did not work, then carbo/caelyx which worked very well. I have had just over a year on Niraparib but sadly it is no longer working. I am due to start carbo/gem in a few weeks. Any advice or information on this treatment would be welcome?

Hi, I had this combination in 2020. You normally have first dose carbo/gem then 8 days later gem only, followed by 2 weeks off. Like all chemo it can knock the neutrophils, and bone marrow, I was lucky as did not have that problem. I am due to start this regime again this month. This will be 4th line chemo for me. I had carbo/ caelyx in 2022. I wish you well.
Thank you Caleda, itโs the part when we are waiting for them to schedule the appointment dates that I find really difficult! I was ok on carbo/caelyx so fingers crossed that I will be lucky. Sending best wishes for your treatment too. ๐๐

Hi. Our journeys are not dissimilar. I was also diagnosed HG PPC 3C in 2021 and have had 8 cycles of Paclitaxel and Carboplatin, ultra radical cytoreduction surgery, Niraparib which worked for about a year and more recently Carbo Caelyx which was working well until I became Carbo resistant after three cycles and the cancer then progressed during the chemo with Caelyx alone. My options are now limited but I have been trying to get more treatment with weekly Paclitaxel and am awaiting another CT scan and blood test. There are concerns because of the neuropathy and allergies I developed when I last had this drug. I am 73 and they are worried about me but I am concerned that the other option seems to be no effective treatment at all unless I am accepted for a trial. I am interested to see how you get on with the Gemcitabine, although I can't have the Carbo with it. My thoughts and very best wishes are with you and I hope all goes well.
We are similar! I even have an umbilical hernia. Neuropathy was awful and losing my hair too on Paclitaxel so I do understand your worries. Sending best wishes and keep us posted. Katy๐
