Got indigestion and a bit of an headache. Alot is anxiety as well. Hopefully I will feel better in the morning. Journey as started.

Hi there,

Yes the steroids after chemo will keep you up at night, they can make you feel quite buzzy, make sure you don’t take the second dose too late in the day,I always took them at 5pm no later.Have a warm relaxing Bath or shower before bed, they can also cause the indigestion so always take them with food never on an empty tummy.

Well done and a very good start.

The first chemo is always an unknown experience and high anxiety levels are very normal to all of us.

As you have mentioned, the lack of sleep is due to all the steroids that we have before and after chemo.

My oncology consultant refers to chemo as a 'poison'. Drink plenty of water and herbal teas as this will help with the headache and with flushing all the 'poison' out of your system. Ginger tea had helped me a lot with the nausea. I had a bit of belly pain and bloating afterwards, which gave me a bit of a worry. Later I knew it was 'chemo belly'. This will resolve by itself.

I hope all goes very well with the rest of the journey.

Feeling a bit calmer today , though keep expecting something to crop up. I know I will feel poorly sometime I think you expect it, but hope it's not to bad. Will let you know . Thanks for your understanding x

Hi. I recommend keeping a journal of how you’re feeling. Stay hydrated and prevent constipation. It can become a major issue. You may feel worse once you finish the steroids. I would take the anti nausea meds before you need to. Good luck!!!

Thanks for your advice, I think I am expecting that. Will see what happens with bowels as I get alot of diarrhoea. Though I am drinking plenty. Will hope things aren't to bad but I am preparing to feel crap .

Glad you are through the first chemo. I remember finding the pills so confusing at first but it’s amazing how fast it becomes routine. And I think all the new sights, sounds, smells let alone your own anxiety makes it a truly exhausting experience.

As someone else has said, a journal is a great idea then you can keep track.

Hope symptoms aren’t too bad and it does it’s job. X
