Hello ladies - Diagnosed with stage 4a HGSOC in May and had 3 sessions of Carboplatin and Taxol then debulking surgery on Aug 20 then 3 more treatments of chemotherapy. I started on Niraparib 4 weeks ago. Up to now there has been a steady decrease in CA125 but reading from blood test on Wednesday this week showed small increase from 12 to 14. All other bloods are fine and no side effects from Niraparib and I am moving from weekly to monthly blood tests.
The nurse said not to worry but that’s easier said than done - is this something I should worry about? Not the news I wanted on Christmas Eve. Does CA125 go up and down or could this be the start of something? Thank you in advance and a very happy Christmas to all. Yvonne xx

Hi , try not to worry (easier said than done I know) my ca 125 varies like yours it’s been 10 , 16 13 11. and three weeks later 12 . So you see it does fluctuate lot for various reasons . My oncologist isn’t concerned at all .Don’t let it spoil your Christmas xx
Hi Yvonne My last four CA125 readings following first line treatment were 11, 9, 12, 7 so it does fluctuate. My registrar once told me there are 24 conditions that can cause your CA125 to rise.
I understand your worry but don’t let it spoil your Xmas. There are so many treatments out there if it continues to rise BUT your next reading could be lower. Say to yourself I will Deal with it in January....for now I have the rest of December to enjoy doing the things that make me happy.
My mums after front line treatment have been 13 11 10 15 18 17 16 18. The doc really wasn’t worried and said it’s only natural to bounce around. Just keep an eye on any doubling or anything symptom wise that worries you.
Can only endorse what others have said. Mine has been up and down and have been assured it's ok, especially if there's not too much movement. Try to have a lovely Christmas!Candy x
I don't really understand the ca125. Mine have never been lower than 95 since diagnosis July 2018 when it was 6800. Got down to 98 in Jan 2019 following 6 rounds & debulking surgery. Increase to 750 in July 2019. Currently sitting at 1800 & been on oral pills epitoside since Feb 2020 at reading of 1600. Thats when i started 14 days on 7 off cycle. My CT scans show no increases since may 2020. I feel ok other than a bit of fatigue. I have a ileostomy & that seems to bother me more than cancer itself..
I know just what you mean mines gone up from 12 to 21 mine before chemo was in the thousands but your right it does worry youAlthough anything under 30 is normal. So try not to worry . Lets keep fighting and stay positive for the future 🙏🤞💪xxxSheilaF
I’m on Niraparib and my CA125 goes between 10 and 13 each time. To start with it stressed me out but now after 2 years I have learnt to live with it. My oncologist says it’s not the number but the trend x
Please do not worry..before surgery to remove my tumour CA125 was at 75 after 6 rounds of chemo it is a steady 4 ..having not asked much before either surgery or chemo I did ask recently what would be a worry in the marker test answer it varies from individual to individual in terms of what was your original amount my oncologist would not be concerned if mine was 30 they would however look to see why the rise so try and not to worry easier said than done ...try and enjoy Christmas and the New Year ...I for one will try to embrace both days and celebrate on the 3rd January 2021 the first year and date of my deabulking surgery.
Good morning and Happy Christmas. That is a minimal bump. I know it is a concern but what is important is if it continues to trend up. I was told not to worry until the # doubled. As you said, easier said than done, but try not to put all of the focus on the #. Do you feel good? Symptoms matter. Hopefully, your next Ca 125 levels off 🙏🏻
