Ca125 is on the rise from 12.5 in August up to 95, my gp has said not to worry too much as the CRP levels is low , I was unaware that they use this as an indicator also, just wondering if any of you ladies can throw some light on this.

Hi Loren that's interesting... my ca125 is 25 but because I have rheumatoid disease my CRP is generally higher than normal...didn't realise they used it as an indicator. Hope you are ok and able to avoid worrying ? It can go down as well as up xx L
Thankyou Lyndy, always something to worry about with this horrible disease, I was surprised when my GP mentioned it , but she pointed out that it was raised on first diagnosis, oh well just waiting on scan ,see what the out come will be 😬 Trying hard not to think about it until then.

Hiya,
What’s the CRP level ?
Jackie xx
Hi lovely,
I’d seek an appointment with your oncologist better safe than sorry as that’s quite a jump from 25 although not like some ladies where they’ve been 9 then 1000 but anything above 30-35 is not normal xxx
CRP has nothing to do with diagnosis of OC as far as I know.
Glad to see you have been referred back to oncologist.
Take care X
Thank you howick01, I haven't heard this before so was a little surprised.
When I was first diagnosed the CRP levels were mentioned to me because my first GP had ignored the fact they were well out of the normal range. They did say it has no relationship to OC but does act as an early warning to be investigated as to the cause. If only they had, I'd I'd have been diagnosed six months earlier.
Good luck with scan

Thankyou LA , had a call from oncology this morning scan on the 15th so hopefully it will be NED, but at the same time I'm trying to mentally prepare for worst case , sadly that is the way it is for all of us now , how are you doing?

Ladies, I am dense on this topic, not understanding What test show these CRP for c Reactive Protiens readings that you are referring to. Is it in a standard blood test? Or a special request test?
Hi rppizio,
generally my GP just carries out all bloods , the only one I did request was ca125,

I usually have C reactive protein level and erythrocytes sedimentation rate done by rheumatology to check inflammatory levels of my rheumatoid disease...but of course these and CA125 are all influenced by inflammation xx
Hi Loren
I have weekly blood tests for weekly chemo and over three weeks my CRP rose rapidly to over three times the norm but this week it has dropped back down to normal. It is a protein produced by the liver when there is infection in the body. if elevated for some time it can increase the risk of heart decease but don't panic as there are lots of foods that can help reduce it naturally. I doubled up my intake of these foods and down it came. Just Google, how to reduce c reactive protein naturally. My problem at the moment is I've gone aneamic, something common to me all my life. I upped my intake of iron rich food but it's sent up my potassium level. Now it's a balancing act to get in the iron without the potassium. It's never ending getting the diet right. I've not got time to think about the cancer.
Keep up the fight
Love Kryssy xxx
CRP is a typical indicator of infection. I've never heard it mentioned at all during in relation to Mum's cancer. xx
Hi Loren, I also have not heard of CRP levels mentioned with OC, I do have my blood tested and most of the time my oncologist will mention white blood cells or platelets, she always keeps a eye on my 125, it's been a good indication for my cancer treatment, I know some ladies have posted that their oncologist does not take the 125 as a indication and a scan is needed which is a good thing.
I know that when my 125 goes up it's a sign that all is not well, but as you are aware this cancer can effect us all in different ways, it's not one size fits all.
I'm sure she will have a treatment plan when you go back keep us informed.
take care Lorraine xx
