Taxol

Hi Ladies

Just a quick catch-up.

Unfortunately Caelyx did not work for me. Ended up in hospital with high temps after two out of three infusions. Scan showed slight advance of cancer so it was decided to put me on Taxol. Three weeks on and a week off. Should have started last Monday but sickness crept in and ended up in hospital again.

Going for bloods today and should start chemo next Monday.

Been dry retching again this morning so hope will make it.

Hope everyone keeping as well as possible, anyone heard from Laura lately?

Love and Best Wishes to all

Janet

Hello Janet - I know how devastating this type of news can be, but keep on fighting. I am on 4th recurrence, but I do believe there is a treatment that will work for me, we just haven't found it yet, don't give up!

Good luck for Monday xx

Thanks Lyn.

5th line of treatment. Tired and sickly before it starts.

Best of luck to you and hopefully they will find a cure soon for everyone.

Hi Janet

Like you caelyx didn't work for me and the disease progressed. So 4th line is single Taxol, which l started 5 weeks ago. So far all good with a reduction in ca125 (feel like this should be whispered). As l had become so ill my consultant deemed it was time for aggressive action. Will be weekly until ct scan confirms shrinkage in tumours. Then 3 weeks on one week off, if my body can tolerate for a full 18 infusions.

So far l have found it OK. Only at hospital for 2-2.5 hours. They give steroids and piriton before hand. Haven't needed any take home meds and just use omeprazole for 1/2 days for indigestion.

Do you think your sickness is disease related? If so chemo may help.

By the way, l even kept my hair for the first 3 infusions but then after 4th one l had rapid shedding. So back to my scarves and wigs. No need for winter hats!

Sending you best wishes for the treatment ahead.

Hi Sylvia

Thank you so much for your reply.

Yes I think sickness is disease related. Due for 3weeks on 1week off from Monday.

Going for bloods later today.

You have really lifted my spirits, feeling very sick and down today.

Hope the rest if your treatment goes well and we do beat this!

Take care, love

Hope you have a good result with Taxol and that you feel a bit better soon x

in reply toLizzieanne

Thank you.

Good Morning Janet,

hope the blood results are good and you can carry on with your treatment on Monday. ‘Things can only get better‘ as the song goes.

Hope you have a nausea free weekend. The weather looks promising at least.

I’ve been wondering and worrying about Laura too. I’m sure she’ll get back to us eventually.

Lots of love to you

Hi Janet

Sorry to hear about your rough patch and hope that you feel better soon. They just need to find the one that works for you.

Carbo/plax and Zejula didn't work for me so I've just started caelyx which is making me very sick and I now have head spins which make me fall over or throw up!! Great but perhaps this one will work for me, who knows? We must just keep going, chipping away at it. Good luck.

Kind regards

Vicki

Janet sorry to hear Caelyx didn’t work for you I am starting Cisplatin / Caelyx, onc said he’s hoping we get a response from this combo.

He did mention weekly taxol if it doesn’t respond. I hope you manage to start your new regime.

Hugs Ellsey xx

Hi Ellsey

Thanks for reply. Hope you get a good response from the new combo.

Good luck with everything

Tough times, Janet. Hopefully the Taxol will work well. It’s horrible to be feeling so unwell. Maybe something could be prescribed for that.

I have been thinking about Laura too.

I hope you’re a bit better today and that you’ll be well enough for treatment on Monday.
