Just a quick update, the last two weeks have been very difficult, two weeks ago my daughter and grandchildren came down from Scotland to take me on a short break to the beautiful Isle of Wight. After only two days I ended up in A&E with a temperature of 39.4 I was admitted for three days in quarantine with a urine infection and neutrophils of 1.8.
Two weeks on I am back in Frimley Park hospital with a kidney infection and have been here since Monday, had a ultrasound scan yesterday and it shows inflammation of the kidneys, so getting lots of antibiotics and fluids.
I should have had new chemo regime Wednesday & Thursday of this week, but hospital I am in let them know I had been admitted. So between being hypersensitive to platinum and now this I feel it’s been a horrible couple of weeks. Forgot to say doctor says the catheter is most probably the cause of infection, also it should have been changed after the first infection.

Not that easy to rest in hospital is it Ellsey? Especially early mornings.
I hope you respond well to the antibiotics & fluids. I hope you have a new catheter now? Does it need changing routinely eg. every 3 months or so? Best wishes xoxo 🌻🌼🌼🌻
You poor thing. You have really been through the mill. I cannot believe they did not change your catheter when you had a uti. That sounds borderline negligent to me. No wonder it spread to your kidneys.
Anyway I do hope you will be feeling better very soon.
Oh no what a shame, even worse while on holiday. I feel for you with these repeated infections. I’m not in hospital but have another infection too. The pain must be awful. I know that this kidney/urine lark is so draining. Praying for you to bounce back quickly
HI Ellsey, What a hard time you are having, I hope the hospital can clear up the infection quickly so you can start your treatment, when you do start treatment hope it goes well keep in touch ..take care Lorraine xx
Oh dear Ellsey, you poor Love. You are having a bad time. I'm so sorry. Let's hope once the antibiotics have done their job you'll start to feel a lot better, mentally and physically. Sending love and a big, gentle hug,
I feel for you, I had a kidney infection years ago, it was really awful and extremely painful. The catheter most certainly should have been changed when you had the original infection.
It’s a bummer when illness affects holidays and other members of the family and I’m sorry your holiday was spoiled.
I hope you soon start to feel better and are able to have your chemo very soon. Gentle hugs and love ❤️Xx Jane
Oh so sorry to hear that you’re in hospital Ellsey, it sounds like you’ve had a difficult week. I hope they get you sorted soon and your kidneys settle down, hopefully you’ll be able to go home soon and be back on your chemo very soon after,
I hope the antibiotics start to work really soon . It just seems so unfair that this should happen when you are enjoying a family holiday. As for the error in not changing what may be the source of the infection , well that is inexcusable . Take care
Sorry that you feel so poorly right now, Ellsey. Hope the catheter gets changed quickly and the infection has a chance to clear up, before the next chemo starts. Hugs, Maus
So sorry to hear of your problems. I expect the worst thing was being unwell when children with you. Hope you get to see them soon and that you get well even sooner.
So sorry to read about your interrupted holiday. I know how ill kidney infections have made me feel so hope the antibiotics clear it up quickly. Grotty though it is in terms of sleep and rest, hospital is the best place to get you better quickly. Sending you love and a gentle hug. Jo 🌺🌼🌸🌻🌹
