Good afternoon lovely teal ladies. I hope you are managing to make the most of the pleasant weather.
I have just returned from my onc appointment and am devastated to hear that my neutrophils have dropped again to 1.3. My onc won't give me permission to travel unless they are above 2. I am having filgrastim injections over the weekend then a blood test on Monday.
I really don't understand as I haven't had chemo since June. So I still don't know if I'm going to Turkey next week or not. I'm so frustrated.
Rant over. Sending everyone lots of love Sian xxxx

Oh no! Praying for a good result on Monday, I know how fed up you must be! That was a very mild rant btw - I'm sure you would have heard mine from miles away!. Do let us know what Monday brings - everything crossed you get away on that much needed hol!. Kathy xx
Oh Sian I am so sorry to hear this. What a disappointment. I do hope they jump back up in time for you to travel. If not I suppose it is safer for you to avoid other bugs.
Maybe there is somewhere in this country that might be interesting and relaxing even if it isn’t perfect.
I signed the pledge not to fly for environmental reasons back in 06 but I would be so fed up if I couldn’t go to my chosen places.
I am away at the end of September for a few days but couldn’t believe the hoops I had to jump through to get insured in case of ill health. So many questions!
It’s a whole different ballgame for this situation isn’t it.
Sending love and hugs and hope for those injections to work. They did the trick for me.
Thank you so much Alex. Yes I was really looking forward to this holiday and am trying not to give up hope but know that the chances of me going are getting slimmer. I really feel so restricted when I feel fine, just these damned Neuts which won't behave. My friend has offered to knit me a few more which made me laugh xxxx
I’ve just noticed a post about paw-paw fruit which might boost them and platelets too. I took life-mel honey which is reputed to help although I needed the injections too.
That is a real disappointment. It can take a few months for bloods to improve after chemo. Im nearly a year down the line and still have low lymphocytes. Fingers crossed that your bloods improve next week and until then eat a massive bag of spinach and lots of other healthy foods x
How I feel for you and sympathise. 🤞 Fingers crossed for a good result on Monday and you'll soon be on the way to Turkey. Hope you can get a refund or be able to transfer the holiday to a later date, if not.
Try buying chicken or beef livers and red or ordinary onion. Very cheap. Cut up small, fry in healthy oil. Add salt, pepper and herbs. Blend and put in fridge for 2/3 hrs. Eat this gorgeous chicken pate every day. Don't keep after 3 days in fridge. My neuts were still low after 7 months finishing chemo. I tried papaya leaf liquid extract and tea which worked well. But this easy cheap recipe had my neuts from 1.5 to 2.8 within a week! and 3.6
2 weeks later. It's easy, cheap and certainly worked for me. Hope u get to go on your hols.
Why to we always have these hurdles to jump, fingers crossed your neutrophils come up in time for your well deserved holiday, mine where 1.1 and 4 days later after the infections they went back up to 2.1.
Dear Sian, I can imagine the frustration and disappointment having had to cancel a trip to NZ last April due to having finished FEC and Taxol , then weak as a kitten , caught pneumonia etc !!
Currently I’m feeling pretty good , and rebooking for November ( sons wedding) but I put it down to all the supplements I swallow daily! My last bloods all fine apparently . For your info I take omega 3,,
Selenium, magnesium, vitamins d, b, c,
Calcium, biotin, zinc, and iron.
I’m in Letrozole now which has unpleasant side effects that come and go, so manageable.
Its the worst when there is nothing you can do to bring the numbers up. Guess keeping in mind your best interest is the reason, hard to not understand but the frustration is so understood!!! Good luck and may the weekend bring them up! oxox Judy
I can only imagine just how frustrated you must be feeling right now Sian, and the pressure of all the waiting can’t be good for you in any way. I hope your neutrophils recover enough byMonday to allow you to travel. Holidays are so important at any time and so looked forward to especially in our situation that to have them possibly cancelled is such a disappointment.
I have everything crossed for you, do let us know how you get on lovely ❤️Xx Jane
Ps your rant was very ladylike and polite. I think mine would have been much less so ❤️
Thank you Jane. Ladylike and polite I like that!!! I had shortly before told my husband that I felt the need to punch something!!! He reminded me that I could hurt myself and then get an infection which would make everything so much worse xxxx
I was really lucky on Carbo/Caelyx as every Friday my Neuts would drop, but before Monday morning’s infusion, they would rise enough for me to be okay.
I have not had a good immune system since my spleen was removed when I was nineteen.
My doctors prescribe an emergency supply of broad spectrum antibiotics, Amoxiclav, (Augmentum). 500 Mgs. I always travel with these and if I begin to get ill with a fever, I take the course.
This only happens about once a year, so I am not antibiotics resistant.
See if your GP or Oncologist will do this for you so you can travel.
I am repeating the mantra "Turkey here we come for Sian" in the hope it works. You need your holidays and I hope you make it. e will all be looking for the post on Monday! Good luck.
