Hi Ladies an update On feeling deflated, I went in for my gem last Friday 18th and spoken with my nurses regarding my oncology meeting was a little happier as she had moved my scan from 7 Nov to that day....while I went down for my scan my nurse rang my onc and told her I wanted a second opinion, onc said that was no problem but she had been in touch with trials as there is a new trial starting in January, which I would be put forward, by Monday I recieved a call to meet my onc for appointment on Wednesday........ Wednesday morning I and my hubby arrived at our appointment to meet her she was a completely different person with loads of ideas, she told me that she had hoped to have my scan results by today before chemo, from scan results if cancer had increased a lot she would put me on Letrazole , if increase was only slight she would keep me on gem and add a low dose cisplatin, well ladies I was over the moon she said either would keep me stable until trial starting...... Thankyou all for your replies it just proves sometime it's worth asking for a second opinion...... I had my first infusion of cisplatin/gem amazing considering they don't use this for ov
Take care all you wonderful ladies

So glad to hear this! Yes we MUST be our own advocates and if not for the ladies on this site I would not know half the time if I should be or not! Wishing you luck and how great to know you are going to start a trial soon-ish and can "relax" (for lack of better word) about the wait. oxox Judy
Yes it is all a little up in the air as the trial is for platinum resistant, which as i had the anaphylactic shock to carbo, but now I'm receiving cisplatin and done okay yesterday although at a lower dose and given over 2 hrs what a long day 😟....... So don't know weather it will disqualify me from the trial, but whatever works I'm happy with, hope you are keeping well Judy and your treatment is working
Just a quick message to say I'm so pleased for you. Fingers crossed things go well for you. So glad, too, that your Onc was much more helpful. 🤞Love, Solange 😊
Thankyou so much Solange, don't know how I would cope without all the lovely ladies on this site, they are all so helpfull gives me so much hope and support
Yes I think our oncologists are a bit wishy washy to start with but I sort of understand them after all not everyone who gets the dreaded ov wants to take on trials - maybe far from home and who knows how ill it can make you feel. However I think when they realise you want to push farther, become sort of a guinea pig (although I think we are all guinea pigs with this cancer) - they are willingly to back you or at least that is what I understood from conversations with my oncologist.
Really sorry to here what you have gone through and hope you are feeling better. Anne Xx
Thank you so much Anne, I'm feeling more positive after last meeting with onc and to be fair my last professor was amazing so who knows how the new onc is feeling she has someone else's shoes to fill, but she gave me a bit more hope this time, at least she has put me on cisplatin which the Platinum drug seems best for me I had my first infusion in Friday and to be honest I don't feel to bad so onwards and upwards
