Hi Lorent. I had Carbo/Gem and to be honest had the same side effects/felt the same as with Carbo/Taxol but without the hair loss. I'm assuming by saying that that you will have had Carbo/Taxol previously? I wish y9u well, chemo is NEVER easy. Sending you a big hug. Kathy xx

Thankyou Kathy, yes had carbo/taxol and was more concerned about the hair loss with carbo/gem as I have my sons wedding in August so fingers crossed I wont need to dust down the wig .... lol

Hi Lorent No hair loss, might thin a tiny tiny bit but you can always look at hair fibres as an option - certainly won't need a wig. Oh, and we need photos of the groom's mum on the big day ! xx

Just had my first dose of this yesterday, so today I’m wanting to run the length of Britain and been up since midnight, steroids are a wonderful thing 😏.

Had no problems with it going in, so time will tell on side affect, we’re have to compare notes. Though this is my third lot of chemo in 2 years and luckily I sailed through the other with hardly any problems

Thankyou for your reply Elfed, yes I'm pretty much on the same path I'm on my third line in 3 years and to be honest I didn't have much problems so fingers crossed this may not be so bad... So we will definitely have to compare notes 😉 Wishing you all the very best

Hi Lorent I’m on Cistplarin and Gem just got back from Christie’s after completing day 8 of cycle 5. Have chemo day 1 & 8 and day 15 week off.

I’ve kept my hair but some slight shedding not enough to notice by others so you’ll be fine for your sons wedding x

Up to cycle 4 day 8 I was fine apart from neutrophils dropping after cycle 1 but filgrastim injections after each chemo have kept them fine so no delays to chemo. I also get some muscle pain for a couple of days but sorted by paracetamol. Since the end of last cycle fatigue has hit big time and some slight nausea (sorted with 1 or two days of taking metocloprimide) and breathlessness on exertion. Got thoroughly checked yesterday before chemo today due to breathlessness and the docs aren’t concerned and just told me to rest more (I have been working part time throughout) my Hb has dropped a little but they’re not concerned.

I now have only 2 infusions to go so I can officially become a couch potato and watch box sets whenever I want lol!

I haven’t had a half way scan as my Ca125 has reduced dramatically so my oncologist didn’t see the need. It started at 4500 and last week was down to 54. Have my scan on 15th July after chemo has ended. So it appears to have zapped my aliens and I’m just hoping by the end my Ca125 will be within normal range! Like I say side effects have been tolerable and manageable up to now apart from the fatigue latterly.

This is also my 3rd lot of treatment in 2 years I’m just praying I get a good remission after this x

Take care

Hugs

Bev xx

Thank you Bev, it's nice to know what to expect, by the sounds of it, it has done the job well by your ca125 reading, I normally ask what my ca is but this time I didn't bother, I felt I didn't want to stress about it, fingers crossed it will give us good remission..

That alien has to go the way of the dodo, Bev. Glad to hear you are managing the chemo reasonably well (well apart from fatigue, which is really annoying). There's a new season of Lucifer out on Prime, by the way (noone said we can't look at pretty boys while on chemo.. husbands included). ;)

Finger crossed for the last two cycles. You deserve a break. Hugs, Maus

Thanks Maus I will add Lucifer to my watch list lol! I like eye candy 😁

Yeah I really want a good remission I’m fed up of treatment now! These aliens can definitely go and do one! I’ve booked a holiday for September and I’m going come what may! I just want some chill time sat by a pool with a good book and a gin and tonic! Can’t do the beach as my beach body has definitely gone the way of the dodo lol 😆

I sound like I have a drink problem but not had alcohol whilst on chemo as cistplatin is harsh on liver and kidneys and boy I’m craving a nice wine or gin and tonic lol 😂

Hope you’re doing ok and not working too hard

Much love and hugs

Bev xx
