Hi. I’m looking for advice. I had a hysterectomy in 2007 following an exploratory operation to find the cause of my abdominal pain. It seemed I had a lot of adhesions following two Caesarean sections and my uterus had twisted round and was stuck to my abdomen wall. They also found some endometriosis. My ovaries were checked and were apparently fine so were left in situ however 6 weeks after my operation I was in agony and following an agonising wait for a scan was told I had a 13cm cyst on my right ovary and had to have it removed. My left one was checked and again was fine but four weeks on the same thing happened. I didn’t want another operation so I was put on the pill to try to reduce it. I had 3 monthly mri scans as they were concerned it could turn cancerous. This was stepped down to ultrasound annually until a couple of years ago when I was put on the two week consultant appointment as the radiographer was concerned at what she saw. The consultant assured me that it was the same as before and to avoid that situation he was stopping the scans and I was to have an annual CA125 test instead which is due now. I’ve since read that this test is not effective alone in diagnosing cancer and as I am having trouble with my bladder and some pain from time to time I thought I would ask for advice. Sorry about the long post but wanted to give you the background.
Ovarian cyst?: Hi. I’m looking for advice. I had... - My Ovacome
Ovarian cyst?
Glad your doc is on to it. Yes ca125 is an indicator and gives both false negatives and positives but it is somewhere to start. As long as a low ca125 isn't taken as an absolute that there is nothing wrong and there is no need to investigate further then you and your doc are on the right track. If you continue to have symptoms it's always worth continuing to insist on getting to the bottom of it.
Take care and good luck.

Thank you for your reply Sandra. My concern is that my GP is relying on the CA125 test only. I’ve been told that I’ve got a sensitive bladder and been put on medication for it. I’m not sure that a connection has been made to my cyst. Should I worry?
Eeh there's only the docs to tell you if there's anything of concern. My opinion is that, hard as it is, shelve worry until you know you have something to worry about and then if you have, you're too busy getting on with the action. It could be something that is easily sorted and you'd have wasted time and energy worrying.
Please don't accept no action if the GP is happy with the ca125. It is not a definitive test and any discomfort requires further investigation.
We're all right behind you. 💪💐 X
Ca125 isn't always a good marker for everyone, although it often is. So If you are concerned that there is a problem, I would go back to your doctor to make sure. Di
