Well an update on my first lung drain 3 weeks ago, what a nightmare I had a lung drain but it stopped draining because it became blocked so they pulled it out and did another one this one worked and then had it talced only trouble was after going through all that I didn’t feel any better I felt worse if possible so they then decided to do a chest drain after taking 5 litre of fluid from there and 3.5 from my lung I could breathe better but I am still quite bloated and full of trapped wind was in hospital for 3 weeks and now I’m feeling tired.
I start chemo for 1st relapse caelyx and carboplatin tomorrow so wish me luck and if anyone as any experience with these drugs I would be very grateful thanks

I have experienced same, keep propped up, lots of pillows and keep telling yourself the chemo will alleviate some OC symptoms even if it does poison at same time. Good luck xxx
Bonjour Trish. You have been through the mill, poor girl. Only had carbo/caelyx for four sessions as didn't work for me. Ice bands on wrists and ankles to protect hands and feet. Really works but uncomfortable to wear for an hour. Maybe not available in UK so take your own. Ask to extend your Emend for two extra days, so five days in all. Keeps the nausea away. I know it works as first dose I only had three days Emend and started being sick on the fourth day. With Emend extended it took me past the sickness stage. Skin very dry. I used Allepo soap to wash and lashings of Udderly Smooth cream. Still had flaky skin but no cracking. Stay out of sunlight. Most important. No hair loss. Always a plus. Good luck with it and I hope it's the one for you. xxx
Firstly I'd like to say big hug to you going through your fluid drain procedures. I've had both lungs drained (at different times) and a Ascites drain. Very unpleasant procedures, scarey and stressful. You have done brilliantly. I've just completed 6 rounds of Carbo and Caelyx. Not sure what your 1st line of treatment was. Mine was Carbo, Taxol and Avastin. I found my 2nd line treatment, Carbo and Caelyx, kinder to my body. I was given cooling pads by my chemo ward, which I found useful. I didn't need them during actual treatment, however occasionally my hands did get hot and red, and the pads helped. My skin did get dry, but no cracking. Aveeno did the trick for me, plus putting on hand cream every night before bed. I agree with Krystal, ask for additional sickness tablets, just in case. Nausea with Caelyx seems to be (and was for me) from other threads I've read, a common side effect.
The good news, yes finally managed to get to some good news my CA125 count dropped significantly, any remaining fluid also went completely with exception of a sliver on left lung. From what I've read and what my oncologist has told me is this combination of chemo treatment lasts a long time and you can experience further improvements after the treatment has finished. All the very best to you. Nic
