The drains can be very draining, if you’ll pardon the pun. I’m normally quite ‘well’ despite the cancer, and I’m always left feeling weak and shaky afterwards. Hopefully your mum will feel the benefit of it today and maybe be able to eat a little to begin building up a bit of strength again.
Having 5 litres removed in one day sounds a lot to me. When I had 9 litres removed it was over several days and the flow was monitored so it wasn't too fast. I think the speed has contributed to your mum not feeling well so I hope that each day she will get stronger and get back to her old self. Best wishes to both of you xxxx
Hiya Paul , I was diagnosed dec2016 grade 3c .. had 6 drains approx 33ltrs in total.. yes tough.. I sid learn that whilst having them I drank and drink that cyclists have which replaces minerals that you lose ( Dehydration).. dont forget whilst draining its fluid. They were great can get from Halfords, supermarkets . Try them . Will lift your Mom . I nearly fainted the 1st time and took dehydration drinks with me thereafter and felt great .. well as best as you can .see my profile ive not let this disease stop me .. chin up all .. blessings to mom too xx. Kick its ass 🏋️♀️🏋️♀️🏋️♀️🏋️♀️
I was drained over a week and felt extremely tired, until they gave me 2 blood transfusions and put me on one tablet of Omaprezole and my appetite returned. This was before de baulking.
I was operated on in 2014 and am still here NED.
Please don’t give up hope, there are so many things they can do.
I was diagnosed stage 3c 5 years ago and have had many drains in that time, sometimes as much as 12 litres. I’ve always found the instant relief outweighed the feelings of weakness. It’s something I see as part of the living with cancer. I do this turns out to be the case for your Mum. All the best to you.
