Hi. I was diagnosed with IVa ovarian cancer in May 2016. The 1st significant symptom was plural effusion in right lung, which was drained twice b4 diagnosis. At that time I was told I had 5cm tumour on right ovary. Fluid in right lung, thickened Omentum and asites. I had 6 cycles of taxol and carboplatin chemo, together with Avastin before debulk surgery in November. This was followed up by 2 further taxol and carbo chemo sessions. I knew nothing about Ovarian cancer before my diagnosis. Of course I know a lot more now however wish to see more support and alertness provided to women

Hi! Welcome...
Am also stage 4a & was diagnosed (finally) via pleural effusion. Fluid drained & analysed showed cells from the pelvis. Further checks & a biopsy have narrowed it down to probably Peritoneal, but maybe Fallopian tube Cancer. They all come under the umbrella of OC. I never really had the classic symptoms of OC, and DID know them as a close friend had lost someone, however more awareness is great as it can make a huge difference re prognosis.
I think you will find this forum warm and a great source of support. X
Welcome to the forum.
Hi and welcome to our lovely forum. My diagnosis was arrived at due initially to a pelvic bleed and nausea which were quickly acted on by my amazing GP. Surgery was followed by 3 weekly carbo/weekly taxol in 2014.
I hope you're now well, it's lovely to meet you ❤️Xx Jane
