Taxol never worked : In hospital with another... - My Ovacome
Taxol never worked
I am sorry to read your post , but let me tell you , I have been on taxol twice , and cisplatin twice and both , were douable !
I was warned about Cisplatin ( had it with etoposide ) , and managed ....eventaully my tumours re appeared and Caelyx didnt do it for me , and I was allergic to Carboplatin . In desperation I went back on cisplatin and agian , I was fine .
I last had cisplatin , August 2015 and was fine for a year . I have been on an immunotherapy trial recently and so far , so good ish .
Cisplatin , I think is hard , because it can make you very sick with commensurate anti emetics having to be taken , usually three anti sickness pills . Then you can get horribly constipated !!!
Getting in front of the constipation was the key , I found . A couple of days before each chemo , I would take sodium docsuphate (sp ?) , and a sennakot ....lots of water , lots of fruit juice and the problem was solved . Tiredness goes with chemo of course , but dont be put off . You are being offered a plan , and a plan is good !!!
A big hug whilst you are so fed up xx
Really sorry to hear this, Friscok, but hopefully Angela's post will give you some confidence.
Sending a big ((hug)) x
Friscok, I had IP cisplatin and taxol after four months of carbo taxol and debulking. I am now in remission nearly 13 months. Docusate sodium capsules taken in advance and during chemo prevented constipation. Anti emetics also prevented nausea for me. I would not be afraid of cisplatin. It's powerful and I'm here to talk about it!π
Hi . I have just finished cisplatin and Etoposide and awaiting the results of a scan . Like Angela said it's doable . I was warned of how tough it was but apart from the constipation , tiredness and feeling queasy I was okay . I am feeling more comfortable now so hoping for a bit of good news next week . I hope this goes well for you . Sending good luck and hugs πππ»
Also in hospital right now with severe neuropathy and got blocked bowel too whilst here but thankfully no perforation. They got me on liquid parafin and two sachets of some sort of powder and some pills for IBS , but I don't have IBS. Also starving me to death with plain yoghurt and apple compot three times a day plus gallons of water. Hubby smuggled in a flask of coffee yesterday. Divine! Once the rock hard blockage passed - not the best day of my life - everything is back to normal now. So hang on in there. It will soon pass, literally. When I can finally escape I will go back to my Oxy Powder as it keeps the constipation well away.
Don't know about your alternative chemo as I have only had one carbo, taxol, avastin and the taxol gave me the neuropathy. Now they are going to change but I don't know what to yet.
Good luck x
So sorry to hear you are back in hospital . Hope you are more comfortable soon . Sending a big hug and positive vibes for your new treatment plan . Other ladies have had some good results so hang on in there . Love and best wishes Kim x
Hi. Do hope you're feeling better. I had to change from carbo taxol to cisplatin taxol half way through chemo as I had an allergic reaction to carbo. It was ok, was slightly more nauseous and pretty tired but then that's the same with most of these drugs. All the best Jo πΌπ»πΊπΈ
Sorry to hear your news Friscok...hope that the next regime has beneficial effect! xx
Oh, poor you... so hard to keep bowels working normally. Thought I was doing well ( now on weekly taxol as 3rd line) with 1 sodium docusate daily, but this morning had bad diarrhoea episode out of the blue...
Has anyone discussed a low residue diet ( not more than 10 gr fibre daily) with you ( yog plain and as full fat as poss and apple sauce is a good example). Otherwise google, lots of info out there. Been on it two weeks now, all the bad stuff, all white foods etc Seems ( and is!) unhealthy but idea is to not to bulk up the stools. Hospital gave me a booklet...
good luck with it all, interesting posts on displaying, could well be my next one, if this doesn't work, or disease soon comes back
