Please can someone let me know whether you lose all your hair with weekly Taxol. Has anyone used a scalp cooling machine and kept it? Lovis x
Weekly Taxol: Please can someone let me know... - My Ovacome
Weekly Taxol
Hi Lovis,
If your having Taxol then your probably going to lose your hair, however some ladies have used the coldcaps and had success. Hoping it goes well for you.
Hugs Kris x
Hi Lovis, I think without the cold cap you would def lose it.
When I was on weekly taxol I used the cold cap and didn't lose any hair at all from my head, although I know it's not that successful for some. It's not pleasant but if you can get through the first half hour you've done the worst and after a few weeks I really could actually forget about it. I thought it was worth it to keep my hair, although you do eventually lose your eyebrows and lashes of course. Some one needs to invent something to save them too!

Hi Lovis,
I had 18 weekly taxol, used the cold cap, lost some hair but had small clip in hair piece and no one noticed, lost eyebrows and lashes but not until the end, all grew back really quickly.
Take Care

Hi Lovis, like Lynne said the first half an our is the worst. I kept most of my hair, just lost underneath at the back where the cap couldn't reach - I must have a big head, lol! Try it and if you can't do it nothing lost. Stand up slowly after as I went dizzy when the blood started flowing again x
My mum has just completed week 10 of 18 taxol and her hair is definitely thinning on top but at the moment is still there. She started wearing her wig last week but only because she really likes it!! When she had taxol last year every three weeks, she had total hair loss. Apart from that she's doing exceptionally well and although she gets tired and has had low magnesium levels (quickly dealt with and no symptoms), she's cracking on as though nothing is wrong! Hope it goes well for you too xx
I started weekly taxol three weeks ago. I was told that hair loss would be more gradual and that some of the women on this treatment their hair had thinned out. After this weeks treatment my scalp felt really sore and sensitive and a few strands came out when I ran my hands through my hair so I have shaved my head and now my hair is very very short. I am not worried about losing my hair I used to be but I am more worried about the treatment working.
Hi I am having the three weekly stint and lost all mine, however my friend is on weekly Taxol, used the cold cap and has her hair! She says she f's and blinds through the first ten minutes then it's bearable, I couldn't handle it, I hate being cold!! Good luck, apparently it's 50/50 if you keep your hair or not with cold cap x
Yup I had weekly taxol and lost my hair but in my eyes a little hair loss is worth it if chemo works I finished in December and hair is back maybe much greyer but back 😀 I didn't use the cold cap tho as didn't want too
Hope all goes well with your treatment xx
Hi Lovis
I had weekly Taxol and used the scalp cooling machine and did not lose my hair.
I had my hair cut short to start with so the cap got really close to my scalp. It is important the cap is a good fit. Make sure they give you the correct size.
You wet your hair before the cap is put on . It is a funny feeling at first but I got used to it. Some people take a paracetamol before they start but I must say I never got a headache. it really is worth a try if it is offered . Best off luck

I had weekly taxol, didn't use cold cap, & didn't lose all of my hair, though it did get thinner. I did lose eye lashes, eye brows & body hair though.

Did weekly Taxol for six months and did not lose hair ; thinned a bit but nothing much .
One oncologist bemused , another said it was unusual but not unknown .
I had lost my hair on two , earlier regimes .
We are all different .
