Heartburn!

So I had my first carbo/caelyx yesterday of 2nd line chemo and so far so good although I'm under no illusions - I know once I stop taking the steroids it'll probably hit. So despite no major side effects at the moment I do have pretty horrendous heartburn. Has anyone else had this? Am I ok to take heartburn medicine?

I was given some omeprazole to help with heartburn - I thought I was having a heart attack! Definitely ask what is safe for you to have and get a prescription if necessary. Good luck with the chemo!

I'm using a nutritionist to help with supplements during my treatment. Had horrendous heartburn initially & she suggested Aloe Vera juice. I take 3 tablespoons morning & evening & had no issue ever since. I get mine from Ocado but the make is Pukka. It's about £15-20 a bottle, but worth it in my opinion x

Hi, I suffered terrible heartburn,& firstly tried rennies, but they did not work for me. When I spoke to the Oncologist he gave me a prescription for Omeprazole which I had to take in the morning before any food. It worked very well, but I did say to the Oncologist ' will I be able to come off these once I finish chemo' the answer was yes & so that it what I did & I have never has symptoms since. This drug is used for people with a hiatus hernia, they are a proton pump inhibitor, but short term are very safe. I hope that you will find this useful as heartburn is horrible. Good luck with the rest of your treatment.
