So after all of your advice following my post about heartburn I was prescribed omeprozole. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be working and together with the nausea I just feel worse and worse as the day goes on. Is there anything else you guys have tried that has worked? I will try aloe Vera juice when I'm up to going out and getting some!!
Omeprozole doesn't seem to be working. - My Ovacome
Omeprozole doesn't seem to be working.
I feel for you I'm in the same boat Macmillan suggested to me 5ht3 inhibitors apparently that are drugs that suppress vomiting reflex just mentioned them to gp and I'm trying those as everything else has failed ... worth asking as nausea is awful feeling hope you find something that woks for you ... let me know how you get on 🤗 Big hugs xx
I had ranitidine or lanzoperole as my 'regular' anti-reflux help but on one occasion whilst away on holiday, they had no effect; the GP I went to as a 'temporary patient' prescribed a couple of doses only of Ondonsotran (?) which worked really quickly to get me through the worst. Now all over three years ago so there maybe other drugs available.
Hope the chemo nurses/Onc/GP can help you and it gets better and you can enjoy Christmas as much as possible. Take care.

I always take aloe Vera juice as my stomach problems never cleared up after my op. Get mine from Holland and Barrett and it's about £8. The one I buy is aloe Vera juice for digestive aid. Milk of magnesia is also very good but if you try it be careful as it could make your bowel loose.
Hope you find something to ease your pain soon.

I have an aloe Vera plant which I sometimes scrape the gel into smoothies - do you think this would be ok to take?
I take Omaprizole and it works for me,but I back it up with 0 fat Actimel drinks.
I find I can't have any drinks unless there is skimmed long life milk in it and also have to watch the amount of acidyfood I eat,It is horrible, so I hope you find the right mix soon,

Aloe Vera juice is excellent for digestive problems, it's not cheap but works. You can buy it on line at Amazon if this helps. Good luck and hope you feel better very soon ❤xx🎄Jane
I buy my Aloe Vera juice from Ocado it's £15.99 but sometimes it's been on special offer, and I only paid £12 so stocked up a bit, wish i'd bought more!
Hi Becky, how long have been taking the omeprazole and what dose you been given? It takes several days to start to work, plus your oesophagus will probably be inflamed and will take time to calm down, so you need to give it a week or two. You may, like me, require a higher than normal dose. I am currently on 40mg a day of esomeprazole (es = extra strong) and at one stage was on double that. I would really advise you to persist, go back to doctor and say it is not helping. Omeprazole works to stop your stomach from producing acid, whereas anything else you take will be treating the symptoms only rather than the cause. Also, ask your doctor before taking anything else alongside omeprazole as some things will interfere with it. Gaviscon is ok if you take it at least two hours after the omeprazole.
Ok ladies MIRACLE DRUG. Not cancer related but related to heartburn, acid reflux.... Hubbie had all of this until we went to Dubai about 4 years ago. We realized while he was in Dubai, it seemed to disappear and figured that the only thing that changed was the daily coffee we were having. Asked the ingredients of the coffee they were drinking and followed it. Sometimes we grind coffee in it and sometimes not. I must say he tried omeprozole and all the other meds nothing worked as soon as he stopped the meds, it came right back. He has been heartburn, acid reflux, STOMACH PROBLEMS FREE since then he used it daily for the first 6 months his issue was severe. Now we both drink it occasionally since it taste so darn good.
Turmeric
Ginger
Cinnamon
Cardamom
Coffee (optional)
Got them all dried and grind them up. You can even get them grounded up already.
Hope this helps.
