Coming up with a cold : Hello everyone , my last... - My Ovacome
Coming up with a cold
I've had a cold but had chemo as I didn't have a temperature. But my blood count was ok. Presumably they'll fit you in as soon as you're better? You may be better off delaying. Mine is on my sinuses and if it goes to my chest I'll be on antibiotics. I know delaying treatment can get us down though and I hope you are back on track soon.
I had a break due to low blood count and my chemo was still successful.
Chin up.
Big hug to you. X
Ohh I was so ready to get it done but hopefully next week things will look better ☺️
Your white cells will be all the better for a break and it will be full steam ahead next time. We all get these little set backs but it is part of the course. Hope all goes well next week
Thank you Suzuki ,
I'm thinking the same way better to wait one week than feeling sick .. I really do hope next week nothing will stop my last chemo ., ☺️
Look I understand you thought it would be over and done with today but rest up for the next week, mind your little lad and it will be fine. It happened me once on Gemzar that my white cells went way down its a shock but plan something nice to do for the Easter break and it will be something to look forward to as well
Have you spoken to your unit and are they aware you are feeling so unwell? If not ring them straight away. Are you monitoring your temperature? If it rises above 38 you must get in touch with your unit straight away.
Do NOT take paracetamol as they can mask a high temperature and if your white cells are low you could be at risk of neutropenia. If you need to take a painkiller take codeine based but check it has no paracetamol. Drink plenty of fluids and keep warm.
I know it's disappointing delaying especially as it's your last one but better to be safe than sorry.
Very sorry you're feeling so low. I am only just coming out of my neutropenic gloom after having my last treatment delayed -- you have my sympathies!
As Lost4Words says above, it's very important you monitor your temperature, ok? If you have caught your baby's cold, your body may struggle to fight off infection so please be super careful about it -- call your hospital hotline if you are running a fever. Take good care x
Thank you Kerry ,
Ugh it's always something its hard when u have a kid to take care on top of everything else . As much as I want to take care of myself there are times that I can't 😔
Like others have mentioned, keep an eye on your temperature. My temperature was up and down and my oncologist was very cross with me because I didn't go in to oncology to be checked out. The reason I didn't go was because before my previous chemo I was taken into isolation with swine flu and I didn't want that again!! He said it was very dangerous not to go in. Not sure what it is like in the US but here they really encourage us to ring and talk to the hospital team or on this site women recommend talking to an Ovacome or Macmillan nurse. My last chemo session was cancelled and nearly every one delayed because of bloods. But hey I am now two years cancer free and I really hope you have a posituve outcome too. Your health is an absolute priority, even more so with a small person to look after. Hope you are beginning to feel better. Val x
Hi, sorry your chemo cancelled due to low wbc count. Wrap up warmly, take it easy, some hot drinks, paracetamol for headache or temperature and drink some green tea. I think it helps with the wbc.
Perhaps you'll be well enough next week for chemo. Try not to worry though if your not. At one point I went 8 weeks between chemo sessions due to low wbc. I still had NED at completion of treatment.
Take care. Ann xo
I have been having success with shaklee vitamins, nutrifuron, vivex and immunity vitamins
