Diabetes is an autoimmune disease just like RA lupus, fibromyalgia etc. Hope you don't have that as well. Easy to check with a urine sample and a blood test. Worth mentioning it to doc but may be nothing. Xx

yes I have all three plus another six illnesses lol, can I say though, fibromyalgia isn't an autoimmune.

I have diabetes and if you think you may have it, like Jo says it is easy to find out, it can be pretty scary unless you get it checked out.

Thanks i will go and get it checked out..

Diabetes type 2 can come on at any time in someone's life and isn't an autoimmune disease either. It is possible to keep in under control through diet and exercise if caught early enough I believe. Tilda x

Worth getting checked out. When I have a steroid injection I have found my thirst increases and a wee more. It always rights it self and I keep thinking maybe I should say to someone next time it happens. It's just another thing to worry about isn't it? My colleague at work is diabetic and keeps threatening to check me out if it happens again!! Will do you no harm to mention it to your nurse. Hope it's not and that it's just your meds mis-behaving xx

Hi Sylvi, Hubby has Type Two and before diagnoses he drank loads, he started out just by diet alone and stayed that way for ten years, and has recently moved to tablets. I would get your symptoms checked out.

Will catch up proper with you tomorrow afternoon. Take care. xxx

Hi Sylvia,

As the others say it is easy to check, your symptoms may suggest that you are - tiredness and thirst being 2 of the major symptoms. Have you been on Prenisolone? I was on it and it has a reputation for causing diabetes and my Rheumy thinksit caused mine. That said, type 2 is very common. Get it checked out, you will feel so much better once it is under control and its no big deal to cope with.

Good luck,

Tilstongal

Hi sylvi, some meds can give you a very dry mouth, especially some of the fibro drugs. I've had a tendency to dry mouth for some time and was told I have secondary Sjorgren's syndrome (if your eyes are dry as well you might find that's the culprit). Since starting amitriplyline I've had a dry mouth most of the time. Best to get it checked out though if it's something that's suddenly appeared x

Yes it has only appeared in the last few days. Last night i dropped my amytryptaline back down to three instead of four which i was taking during this flare thingy that was going on at the weekend.xxx

are you on Pred? A side effect of pred long term is high blood glucose resulting in diabetes.

thats not to bad a dose, have you been on higher dose for a long time? I think they say once under 7.5mg then your own Adrenal gland kicks back in.

maybe request a hb1ac at your next bloods or indeed if you have access to blood monitoring then test yourself.

Stem cells are building blocks that play important roles in cellular renewal and regeneration, but they become less potent over time. Fortunately, fruits and plants are sources of "universal cells" that can increase the longevity of our skin's stem cells, renew dormant cells, repair damage, and regenerate healthy They also defend against harmful ultraviolet, oxidative, and environmental stresses.
