i have inflammatory arthritis and suffer with terrible foot cramps, i was told by the consultant that it is one of the many side effects that some people get when on methotrexate. i don't know what medicines you are on but a side effect might be the answer?
Hi I am not on any meds yet, waiting to see consultant again. thanks for reading
Drinking a glass of tonic water before going to bed is supposed to to help with cramp.
I had cramp in my feet, calves and thighs back in January when I had a flare up which led to diagnosis of RA. I also had restless legs, which nearly drove me bonkers!
I started having a bath in epsom salts 3 times a week, and am still doing that, and apart from the odd bit of cramp in my feet, it's all but gone.
Epsom salts are magnesium, and it's a great way of getting it absorbed into your system and it also draws toxins out of your body.
I buy mine from a health food shop, it's not food grade, so it's cheap, only £3.25 per kilo.
You just put a couple of handfuls in the bath and have a soak, but not more than 3 times per week.
I have also sat with my feet in it for 20 minutes if I haven't wanted a bath.
It's also great for your skin.
Sometimes I mix it with a bit of organic coconut oil and rub it all over, it's a great exfoliator.
Hi artyone,
Was checking out posts on cramps and came across your mention of Fibro, my Thyroid forum members are always saying that fibro is undiagnosed Hypothyroidism. (Hypothyroidism = an under active thyroid.) I have had Fibro myself and now have almost recovered from it, though my Levothyroxine needs a bit more tweaking. Also vitamin B12 deficiency can mimic Hypothyroidism so check that out too. Another one to read up on is Magnesium (deficiency) as there is a strong link there too with fibro.
You posted this post up on here 2 years ago so I do hope you don't mind me giving you a nudge.
