Hi, I take painkillers and dmards and biological drugs. They all have different actions Phil. The dmards will help the pain but by controlling the disease thus the name disease modifying drugs such as methotrexate. The painkillers as it says on the tin ease pain. So whatever you have been prescribed should be good to take with your methotrexate, but of course you should check with the GP if you don't normally get prescribed. I did get tramadoll with mt8 and they helped me. Good luck Axx

It's all prescribed but I'm relatively new to mtx, this is only my 6th week. All has been going pretty well but got a real bad knee and know I won't sleep if its like this.

Just not sure if you can take painkillers on the day you take mtx?

We get told off if we forget that we're not doctors, so all I can say is how I approach things like this is to reflect on whether the doctor or pharmacist gave any specific instructions when prescribing the combination of drugs, and if the painkillers are marked up to take as needed the that's what I'd do. Hi Scuba-phil

I think this is probably too much of a medical query for people to answer on here, as even if someone knew from experience that they had taken the 2 together they could have a different medical history/be on different meds etc.

Always best to ask your doctor for something like this, and if you can't get hold of them you could call your local pharmacy and ask to speak to the pharmacist, who may be able to answer this for you.

Kind regards

Victoria
