Another sleepless night.......

Morning everyone, well i have been down here since 4am. My right hand has been a pig during the night. All my pinkes seem to hurt now some more than others. I do try and do a few exercises to keep them moving, not that that seems to make much difference, but i have to keep them going while i await blood test results. I will ring my rheumy on monday and see if she has had them all back yet. I hope i don't have to have my nails taken off, that will really p"""s me off, can tell you.

Hope you all slept well.................

My hands and feet woke me a few times last night, so lots of sympathy. It's a £€$%^* isn't it. Anyway, I'm hoping a hot shower will help and somehow given me some energy to start the day. Pollyx

Hi Sylvi, why not try your rheumy nurse today? Can't hurt. Some blood results come back quickly I know I can have them done on a Wednesday at my GP's and rheumy has them on his computer by Friday. (They are even quicker if I have them done by the hospital 'vampires' -God bless them ! ) (No offence intended to the blood nurses they do a great job - one at our GP surgery doesn't even leave me with a bruise !)

Wish you loads of feel better vibes !

Sending a big hug Sylvi and hope the day improves for you. My husband laughs at me as every night I do a body check when lying in my bed...in my mind I go throughout my body finding what hurts the most and is it different from the day before..it is incredible what 'always' hurts and what are the 'visiting' hurts. Helps me understand things better and how this illness affects us. Take care today xxx

Morning ladies, thanks for your kind thoughts. My poor rheumy must be getting fed up with me keep ringing, mind you is so lovely and i am lucky in having her. Body check now that is a new one on me. I bet that is fun. It depends on which nurse i get down the hospital whether i get bruised or not. Isn't it funny the stories we have to tell about our treatments. sylvi.xxx

Hi Sylvi, sorry you have had such a bad night again. Have you tried asking for a steroid injection which should settle everything down? I have just come back from seeing my consultant who has given me an injection in the btm as odd joints have flared up including my poor overworked left shoulder (since the right one was operated on), my feet which are painful particularly one toe where the joint is sticking right up (he is referring me to someone in Norwich who deals with feet). I just wish it could be someone more local but the podiatrist at the local hospital did give me insoles which were totally useless!

Why would you have to have your nails taken off? I am a bit puzzled by that. Have you got false ones on or something?

One of the best things I was taught on "body checks" was to lie on my back, arms down my sides and mentally work from my toes upwards consciously relaxing each bit. By the time I get halfway I am usually asleep! This is taught in Yoga as well for relaxation. Might help.

Anyway take care, don't overdo it scooting into Bedworth - you are like me,just keep going regardless but sometimes we have to admit defeat and rest.

Love and hugs, Lavendarlady xx

LL,so lovely to hear from you. My nails are false LL and the problem i have with the swelling is round my nail on the middle finger. This disease has taken so much away from me that i am fighting this one all the way. All my rings on my fingers had to come off as my fingers were to swollen. My podiarist doesn't like my toe rings but they are staying on for the time being anyway. I have those insoles as well and i have something to put between my toes to help straighten but they are so uncomfortable to say the least.

Hubby took me to bedworth shopping so my big scooter stayed in the garage. It has its canopy on now as it is getting cold. Its raining here now and they are talking about frosts tonight as well.

There were no drs there on wednesday when i went down so that was not an option. The only good thing about all this is that i'm not depressed, I will probally sleep tonight so i will go to bed early and watch tv,which i do most nights anyway.

Hope it isn't raining where you are in norfolk. Love sylvi.xxx0

Hi Sylvi, as it only affects one nail I do wonder if you have an infection there. Might be worth a visit to the nail bar and ask them to remove the false nail and check what's going on underneath. If it is all fine, they can always put another one on but my advice would be to leave it off for a while. The nail bar should be able to put a protective coating on the nail which will protect it whilst it is growing out and you never know, you might end up with a fabulous own nail!

I don't use false nails as they can damage your own nails and make them soft but I do have a coating put on my own nails to protect them. Recently been using the Newgeneration gel nails which don't need constantly changing nail varnish, but I do like to have my nails free of polish except clear polish from time to time.

I also have some toe separators as my second toe is leaning towards my big toe and rubbing against it which is uncomfortable. I also use toe caps which seem to help as well and those little foam things which you can slide over a painful toe and it stops it rubbing on the shoes.

The things we have to do to combat this disease!

Not raining here (yet) although forecast for later today but really chilly. I have dropped my car off at the garage for its MOT and for a couple of other things to be checked. They will deliver it back later for me. Love Lavendarlady xx

Hope you feel better soon, seems there is always one challenge or another with this pesky condition (some less obvious than others like your nails) but I firmly believe that we are a special group of people who can, and will keep pushing back against it tries to take from us. That doesnt mean we couldnt all do with a break from time to time, hope you get yours soon.

Morning I cannot sleep either been down stairs for about hour an a half it is now 6 ,15 I have just been messing about. When I read you wear false nails I thought I would tell you about mine. They went black underneath from the swelling and I had to have them taken off never put them back on. Still it saves money and I rarely go any where so it does not matter.

Take care xgins

Mine are looked after very well in that respect. If there were something there my nail lady would have found it. By the end of the day mu other fingers start feeling the same way as well, which leads me to think it isn't an infection or anything like that. I love having my nails done as i have them painted all different colours. People stop and talk to me about them and i think if i'm having a bad day and someone comments on them it makes me respond and takes me out of my self,so they are good for me in that respect.

Love sylvi.xx
