A bit of an odd request......

Hey everyone. I have made a child proof cap that works and i have now tested it with people aged 4 up to one person aged 99. The only thing i have left to do is get the size of the cap just right. For me to do this i need to ask for some odd but useful information.

If possible could some of you please measure the width of your fingers and thumbs on your preferred hand?

This information will make sure that i don't make the cap to big or small and can allow everyone to use it. if you are able to answer this question for me thank you very much and if possible please direct people you know to this question as well. I need to get as many people information as possible to make sure this cap works for everyone. Once I have finished this university work i plan on taking it further to the main British manufacturer of child resistant caps and hopefully release them to the public.

Do you want the width of each individual finger?

it is an odd request Surely we all got different widths or are you looking to work out an average Another thought if your cap is viable surely the sizes will vary as will the containers but your design will stay the same You got me scratching my head now lol

Ps anything that helps me open stuff will be most welcome Keep up the good work

Yes each finger and thumb on the leading hand please ? :)

By finding out the sizes of many different peoples fingers i am able to create a shape that fits most people. So far i have developed a model that works well for people that have arthritis but suffer from no to little swelling of the fingers but i need to hear from everyone to make sure i can create a cap that works for everyone. basically I'm using averages but rather than sticking to that average I'm focusing on the people at the top and bottom end of the scale so no one is left out.

I am quite happy to help but I am not sure where to measure. Would you be able to do a rough diagram showing where the easurements should be taken.

Thanks

Becky

Not sure I quite understand? My fingers are different widths - thin at the top and fat knobbly knuckles. So which measurement do you want?

end of finger width please the area that you might use to grip a pin or a mouse. Sorry i haven't explained this very well. I wish i could have uploaded an image to show what i meant.

HI Radesign, My finger is 1 3/4inch

My thumb 2inches.

Don`t know if this will help you.
