A pussycat tail of flaps and collars....

I'm not sure if it's the drugs, my age or the internet your opinion will be welcome, taken into account mulled around and then ignored, because I think it must have been the computers fault as It wouldn’t have been my mistake.!!! :) lol

Our poor cat Beau was getting a little tired of her cat flap as the magnet didn't seem to work too well, she often seemed to get stuck with her front legs through the flap into the passage the cat flap door closing on her before she could get her back legs in, so we were being called to hold open the door for her; if we didn't respond to her mewing from the kitchen she would come back to the living room and tell you then in no uncertain terms that she needed to go out. We would then get herded by her nipping our ankles to the kitchen to do what she asking for.

I said to hubs lets get her new flap and while I’m about it she can have a new collar and spare magnets. I duly went on Amazon one of my favourite pastimes and researched the new Cat flap I found all sorts of types from a standard push open, to ones that used magnets or electromagnets, you can get a cat flap that recognises your cats I.D. chip, and even one that worked using sonic beams.

We mulled over the types of cat flaps available there are ones that can be put into the glass on your patio doors or even one that can be placed in a brick wall it looked like a tunnel; decisions had to be made shall I get a deluxe one I popped that into the shopping basket to compare the costs along with a new collar and a pack of spare magnets there was free delivery but after a lot of humming and haring we decided on the good old standard magnet operated one the same model just about as she has now. So I changed the deluxe cat flap to a standard model and placed my order in the online shopping basket and as it was getting late and I wanted to watch something on the TV I logged off and said I would order the next day.

I got up on Saturday morning and had my coffee and pills and then logged on to Amazon but I was amazed to find that what I had placed in the basket the day before wasn't there. So I picked my items again used hubs credit card and pressed the buy button.

Monday morning and a ring at the doorbell and a parcel was delivered containing a deluxe magnet operated cat flap an amazing service I thought they must work over the weekend, a little later the normal postman delivered and hey ho a new collar and 2 spare magnets. I gave hubs a call and said that I must have ticked the wrong box and I’d ordered the deluxe model in the end but there was only a couple of pounds different, hubs did say he hoped that the new one was the same size as the existing or it might be a mare to fit. I opened the parcel with the cat flap in it oh dear they have a collar in as well and a spare magnet, oh well I said to hubs on the phone she may lose one or snag it on the fence we'll keep them as spares.

Tuesday morning and I was catching up with the blogs when the bell rang who can guess....

yes your right reader, it was the postman he had 3 packages for me. 2 collars and 2 packs of 2 spare magnets. I phoned hubs I’m so sorry I said I don't know what happened but I seem to have made a bit of a boo boo or blooming big mistake but the cat now has 3 new collars and 8 magnets they weren’t expensive we'll keep them as spares. Hubs came home and said he would fit the new door for the cat he took the old one off and the new shiny deluxe model slipped into the hole like a glove made to measure, then the huffs started hubs was trying to get himself on either side of the back door at the same time as the holes for the screws didn't quite match they were a cats whisker away from a perfect match but they screws would not go in, out came the drill new holes were bored and after a lot of huffing and puffing and a couple of grade 3 swearwords hubs had beaten the backdoor and cat flap into submission. Hooray!!!

Wednesday morning I’m not expecting any more parcels or packages but a parcel has just been delivered I‘ve just opened it with great trepidation and Guess what it’s a b**** cat flap just a standard type exactly what we had wanted to start with. I haven’t opened the box yet but I have seen a little advertising caption on the front it says ‘this cat flap comes with a collar and 2 spare magnets’. I have phoned hubs I’ve said I’m sorry but I don’t know what happened I’ve obviously made a great big mistake, I think I actually ordered on Friday night and as we have logged the card I didn’t have to confirm again. The really annoying thing is the screw holes are an exact match hub’s wouldn’t have needed to drill more or be sat on the cold passage floor for an hour or more.

I’m keeping the extra cat flap along with the 4 collars and the 10 little magnets, you never know they may come in useful or Beau the cat may lose one in the garden. I would like to offer a public apology to hubs xxx and I will double check my orders on Amazon in the future.

I think it’s the pills (well I can blame them) it’s obviously not my fault. :)

Very interesting! I have never had cats, but have a pug & shih tzu quite small, can you fit doors with magnets for little dogs??

hi Gina

yes you can get dog flaps with the little magnets as well, we keep most of the neighbour hood of cats out but if one of them had a flap with a magnet opening they could get in.

my parents have to shi tzu called Duke and Dandy they have posh kennel names as well. They are nice little dogs very intelligent. I'd gladly send ou a spare magnet if you got a dog door lol:)

ooh havent stopped laughing oh tricia.. god hope i dont do that at work.. i wanted to be generous and give a patient a good supply of phenytoin.. could be assed to count out capsules so chose a whole bottle 84.. which is 3 months supply patient .will remain on it and miss miser guts said do this again.. cos ihad given a generous supply.. nhs money.. only allowed to give 28 I month

so they will need another appt for more now were is the logic!!.

I don't understand this new philosophy Ali if someone is on long term medication why is nice or PCT what we have left of it not allowing Drs to prescribe a 3 months supply. I have a really good relationship with my GP but I still get a month at a time, it's also cr*p as we have to think ahead all the time.

Anyway I'm glad I made you laugh and Beau the cat still expects us to open the door for her, Ungrateful moggie. xTX

they do dog flaps lol bigger and square my cat sitter bought afore mentioned dog flap for her overweight cats.. a paw at each corner lol xx

Hi Tricia, that reminds me of my neighbour she put an order in at Argos for about six items, when she had e-mail confirmation the order was on about four times! She had no idea what she had done Argos couldn't do a thing it was to late the order had been dispatched, think it must have been next day when she checked her e-mails.

Anyway the order came the next day four times over! all her drive was covered in Argos parcels as she was trying to return three of the orders and keep one, it was a nightmare. We laugh about it now though she didn't find it funny at the time.

So your not alone Tricia, perhaps you could get a few more cats and put them on other doors!! lol.

Take care

Mandy xx

Brilliant!! Clearly not your fault at all :)

The simple answer is get more cats!

Loved this blog ... grinning from ear to ear with the odd chortle thrown in. Husband thinks I've lost the plot. He's probably right!!

Hi Lyn

Exactly the problem is she still expects us to open the back door ungrateful moggie. Still I get a bit of exercise that way.

Hope your keeping well, I'm off to France tomorrow at the crack of dawn, a trip to the Somme battlefields we're going with a local coach company we did a trip last year as well, and the tour leader is Don Maclean the comedian and his wife Toni so although there are very somber moments there is also great laughter, I will do as much as I can and make sure I don't push myself too much, I'll take a bit of the hard core pain jollop with me, patch myself up put the splints on and pray.lol :) so au revoir we will be back Monday night so I'll report on Tuesday.

Hi Judi

I'm not using amazon again for a while, the thing is Beau the cat hasn't a clue and is still expecting us to open the door for her.

I suppose it gives me a bit of exersice.

Oh I did have a good giggle to this, thanks Tricia! I agree with Lyn about getting a few more cats or you could ebay the excess collars and magnets...I have got some vouchers to spend so hopefully won't order triple of everything I put in my basket - although I will get the OH to double check I've done it right just in case ;) x
