refused renewal of blue badge. Haven’t got an answer as to why. Not quite sure where to go from here. This decision has caused me severe anxiety. Might try citizens advice bureau though I’m not sure if they can help me and any other way Thank you for the replies I’ve had on this situation as I’m sure some of you have already gone through this.
blue badge update: refused renewal of blue badge... - NRAS
blue badge update
when mine was rejected due to delay in my pip review I got a letter from my Gp and they excepted that and I got my badge
Hi orange33. Here's a link to Citizens Advice that might help.

Interesting that it says you should have been given a reason for rejection. I'd get in touch with your council to ask why and go from there - especially if you've had a blue badge before.
Good luck.
Did you keep a copy of application so you can check you answered all the questions? And you really should contact Council to find out why, it might be that you’ve not filled in all the form or the criteria changed. I don’t know but worth asking why?
I recently had a problem with my 98 year old father’s application for a blue badge with our local council. He moved to be nearer my sister and me from a different county having already had a blue badge with them for many years. Instead of just giving him another I had to go all through an entirely new application with all the faff that entails - and they refused it!
Despite having had the paperwork checked by the local council hub people one of the documents I submitted hadn’t got a date on even though it had his address and all the other details. Needless to say I was pretty fed up and had an awful lot of time wasted through needless bureaucracy and expense.
Once the mistake was rectified dad was immediately given a new blue badge but honestly, what a disgraceful waste of money, time and effort particularly as he’d had a badge previously.
I suspect, as medway-lady has suggested, you’ve missed a vital comma somewhere and need to double check particularly as they surely can't refuse you a badge if you’ve had one before. Why would they? Oh, I know, they just like being thoroughly jobsworthy. Best of luck and hope you get sorted very soon.
It’s ridiculous, but they do treat every application as a new one, and you have to answer the in-depth questions each time. It’s such a waste of public money, why they think people with chronic illnesses are going to get better and not need one, is beyond me. It should bd a simple renewal process, confirming the person is still alive and it’s therefore still required. Our government spend so much of our money, rejecting applications and spending a fortune on appeals and tribunals. My area is 16 week wait for a blue badge, if they simplified he renewals process it would shorten wait time for others.
Have you appealed to the Council Authorities that issue your blue badge? It’s worth it, even if it’s just your time & have a think if you can get any other proof/documentation that might help? Exhausting, I know.
My husband was refused his first time around, he did appeal and was asked to come for a face to face appointment. They took him a walk round the car park which he clearly struggled. She marked the score at the end of the meeeting and told him the results. He passed.
I’m sure they’re immediately rejected on application. Every time I’ve been rejected and accepted on first appeal. Think they hope people won’t bother and it perhaps does weed out the chancers.
Hi if you can or if you can get someone to
Phone on your behalf
And lodge a complaint this morning
and as it was a renewal it's normal procedures to do this and next procedure
You should not have had to go through this
P.s the decision letter should say reason and next step or if their asking for more info
All councils are different though sone send letter for renewal and straight forward some not
Appeal it hun others get it and nothing wrong with them don’t let them get away with it
Assume you don’t get the relevant PIP mobility rate (or DLA) for automatic entitlement? The council I work for makes everyone who doesn’t qualify automatically see an OT for an assessment. Do ask why it’s been rejected and whether you can submit further evidence. If you’re not getting anywhere try contacting your local councillor.
Not good news orange33, but I would follow some of the suggestions in the replies on your post. When My husband had cancer we got one from the GP but times have changed. Now there's talk of ambulances going back to GPs decision for hospital appointments.
