Just had mine done. Optician says the steroid drops tend to dry your eyes so I am using Hypromelliose drops as nescessary

Dry eyes are a total nightmare aren’t they!

You should really just keep pumping in the dry eye drops. Make sure they are additive free - I think Hi Lo are but if not Hyabak, HycoSan, Theolose Duo are all good. I tend to move from one to the other after a while. Make sure to keep using them regularly throughout the day - you can’t overdose and the more regularly you use them the better. I have bottles in all my coat pockets and bags and I keep one in the car - the air con / heater really messes with my eyes and my sinuses.

You could also try an eyebag - you will get that from an optician / a chemist or on Amazon. You pop it in the microwave for a few seconds then lie down with it over your eyes. Afterwards massage your eyelids.

Great advice re the eye drops. It was only when I spoke to my optician that I realised you should just keep using them as much as you like/need. I think most people think they should just be put in twice or three times a day. The eyebag is brilliant for dry eyes and blepharitis - my GP recommended BlephaEyebag (from the internet) as his optician friend has designed it. It really works and gives you a few minutes of wonderful relaxation time!

I think that’s a big part of the problem, people often think you just put them in two or three times a day but you’ve got to keep doing it all through the day. I find that after a while I can cut back - probably isn’t the best idea but it works for me. I’ve also found taking capsules these really help - DHA Omega 3 Algae oil. I’ve just looked on my Amazon page and it says I’ve bought them 9 times already.

The BlephaEyebag was my first eye bag - husband a retired optometrist so I suppose it came as a freebie from a rep. After a while I didn’t like that the only way to clean it was to sponge it and I found the area in contact with my eye - especially if I had eye make up on (I know! ) it got a bit grubby.

I’m now using one that is washable. It’s made by the Eye Doctor - same sort of thing but you can wash the case. I also had one that I hated - it was washable because it was plastic, looked like a pair of swimming goggles and you could see the beads inside but that felt really ‘sweaty’ so I got rid of it quickly.

Thanks - will try the EyeDoctor bag as I know what you mean about not being able to wash the other one!

similar regime but use a night eye drop/gelas well. Much thicker. I’ve got a range but hycosan night is best. As advised by ophthalmology I put a day drop in to help reduce sting of ikervis. Wait 10 minutes and put ikervis in. Wait 15 mins and put night gel in. I usually have to put eye gel in again in night or early morning.

I too use the Eye Doctor bag that is heated in the microwave. Yes carrying the Hylo Forte in bag, car, shopper. I also buy a box of the eye Doctor Eyelid wipes they are individually wrapped and ideal for the days you wake up with very crusty eyes. I also keep one in my handbag. The Eye Doctor products can often be found on offer at Superdrug. The sun is now rather too much on my eyes so I have bought wrap round sunglasses from Amazon that I put on over my normal glasses. Hope this helps.

I have RA but on other meds. I have to put drops in during the day for dry eyes. Optician advised me to buy Optase moist heat mask. It has certainly helped me…..makes my eyes moist in just a few minutes of using it. Might not be right for you….you would need to check.

Hubby had his done couple of years ago he found it very uncomfortable early days eyes still healing. He continues to use eye drops daily, and says he feels the lens which don't have the softness of your own lens. It did settle down and he lives with them ok now using the eyedrops.

No harm getting in touch with the team who did your eyes, assume they gave you a contact number?

And keep hydrated too, especially in this current spell of weather. I usually find the drops (hyabak in my case) and a large glass or two of water helps to calm things.

I think the regime suggested by Madmusiclover is very effective and counteracts the sting of ikervis. Over the years I have found using a thick eye ointment at night such as hyclosan ointment is the most important treatment for my dry eyes and during shortages of these greasier night products has always resulted in flare ups of my dry eyes no matter how many times I was putting in the various thin liquid eye drops.

I’m not sure how long you have been on celebrex but it can cause headaches , sweating and some eye problems so might possibly be contributing to some of your troublesome symptoms.
